I don't know what the last reviewer is talking about. I thought this place was fantastic. I took my father and he loved the paella. And the sangria is awesome! I also like the fact that it was a nice cozy little place. It can get a little crowded though, and we had to wait outside because there was no space inside the door. This is a great place to go with your friends, but I wouldn't recommend it for dates. It can be romantic, but it gets so loud that you can't hear yourself talk.

I tried this place, based on reviews that sounded pretty good, for the early-bird dinner with its perfect-sounding menu on Tuesday @ 5:30 PM. Only 2 other young women were there at that time, yet they wouldn't let me sit where I wanted -- which was a bummer, since I was alone & needed maximum ambience to replace lack of a dning companion. The gazpacho that I had so looked forward to & usually love was not good, & I resented that I could've gotten a much better version of it elsewhere. I had to force myself to eat it! But the sangria was great, loaded with apple chunks. The tilapia entree wasn't especially good - just passable. I knew that it so easily could have been great, but it missed the mark! The heavenly green-tea ice cream for dessert was fabulous. Over all, I would not go back. I felt I definitely did not get the value of what I paid for the $17 early-bird special, & have done much better - & for much lower prices - elsewhere. Even the bread wasn't all that great. Also the space was smaller than I expected, & the stale roses hanging from the ceiling were a turn-off rather than pleasant; I wondered how long they were rotting in their bunches that were hanging upside down from the ceiling. It was distracting. Probably I would not have noticed that so much if I had not been on my own & therefore did not have anyone to converse with to keep me focused on a conversation rather than on the decor. Maybe this place is better later in the evening and for certain special dishes.

I've been to many tapas restaurants in New York City and have been on a perpetual search for one that has the perfect amount of tiny plates to choose from, as well as appropriate serving sizes. I hate when a tapas restaurant brings you out a plate that could well serve 4 people. Tapas are meant for two, thus they are the perfect choice for a date! Anyway, La Paella had both incredibly delicious food on its menu and the portions were perfectly sized. I give it an enthusiastic thumbs up. Also, and of high importance, the half-pitcher of sangria was enormous and enough for my boyfriend and I to each have 4 glasses. Yum. Go here.

This place is tiny but adorable and really authentic feeling. The food was scrumptious, the paella was simply wonderful and the shrimp with bacon was yummy too.

I've been going to La Paella for years and I have never been disappointed. The shrimp wrapped in bacon are my favorite dish- although their sangria is a close second! Great atmosphere, perfect for dates, and the basement made me feel like I was back in Madrid. Definitely worth it!

Cool atmosphere, though sometimes a bit crowded upstairs compared to downstairs, delicious food, GREAT sangria. Never had a bad time here! Highly recommended. Great date spot!

I've been going there for few months now, and I'm always happy with the food (great tapas and Paella), the service (they make you really feel welcome), the music (loud but doesn't bother conversation), the Atmospher/decor (candle light, dry roses on the ceiling), and the Sangria (got to have it). They have a prix fix menu for lunch now and a prix fix for early bird, didn't try it yet but sure will do soon. Overall, great for group and date, good constitancy on the food, good money value. Now you read this go see if i'm wrong!!
