    Great Restaurant

I go to this place for few month now and i would say that i always been happy with everything, great selection of tapas, delicious paella and superb sangria. i organized my birthday there in the downstairs area, we were 12 friends, we had such a good time, the service was great and the music too. overall i recommend this place for date or group.

    Really enjoyable food

As far as tapas in New York is concerned, 'La Paella' is definitely up there among the best. The Sangria here is done really well (strong) and the atmosphere is always lively. I definitely recommend it.

    Favorite tapas place...Yummy!

I have been here probably a dozen times ... alone with my boyfriend, with his family, my family, and many of our friends. It is a great spot to bring a group or just a couple to share fresh and tasty tapas. The shrimps, artichoke and serrano ham with manchego are my favorite dishes. I think it is reasonably priced...I have never had the paella so I can't comment on that. La Paella has been consistent for me over the last three years ... never lets us down. Go and try for yourself ... it really is great!

    Absolutely Delicious But Pricey

La Paella is definitely one of my favorite restaurants. But, I can only afford to go on special occassions. It's a great place for a romantic and exotic evenings. For non shell-fish eaters, I highly recommend the artichoke, gazpacho, and garlic potatoes. Most of the tapas are very small, so you might want to try either the chicken w/ rice or sliced steak to fill you up. Of course, no meal is complete without SANGRIA....the more, the better.

    Not recommended

You would think that a place bearing the name "la Paella" would actually live up to its name. My husband and I debated eating here but we relied on the name, and thought, "if it's called that, then the paella HAS to be good." Wrong. We had the seafood paella and it did not taste as good as we expected. The rice had no seasoning but the fishy and salty flavor from the sea food. I am Spanish and I do know the rice should have some "sazon." We definitely did not get what we bargained for. The price- $40 -for a paella for two was excessive. We did not even get a piece of lobster!

    Perfect Paella

My wife and I go here often, mostly ordering the Basque Paella; which has almost everything possible in it. The huge shrimp in the paella are incredible, unshelled but de-veined, bursting of flavor. Everything else, including the sausage, mussels and chicken is cooked perfectly. We went to Spain for our honeymoon and often ordered paella but it never seamed to be as good as at this restaurant. I hate to be the person to say that, and it seems unbelievable, but the paella at Paella is just made with very fresh ingredients and is light and flavorful, never greasy or heavy like we found in Spain. We also love the d?cor of the space. The whitewashed walls with black wrought iron are dramatic and beautiful. The hanging roses are dried, not ?rotting? as another reviewer put it. The place is a bit cramped, but seating is comfortable and eating downstairs is pretty cozy and can get you out of the path of other guests. The music is great and I don?t find it too loud, which I have complained about in other restaurants with poor acoustics. The selection is great and we even got the name of the CD they were playing last night. My review is so positive because I hate spending a lot of money in restaurants with bad service or food. I like to support those that consistently please us when we go out, especially having worked in restaurants for many years until I finished school. BTW: Don't go alone if you want the paella because it has to be split by at least 2 people.

    Excellent Food

The food here was fantastic! I shared a bunch of tapas with some other people and we all left full and satisfied. The only complaint I have is that after only a couple minutes after we finished our wonderful meal we were asked to leave our table to allow a new party to sit. Other than that it was a great experience.
