    Huge disappointment

Just got back from NYC and what a disappointment this restaurant was! My expectations were not met. The food was cold, the service was average and the atmosphere, well, what atmosphere?! I will not visit again.

    Not real Italian food

If you're looking for Italian food DO NOT..go to this place. we thought the food was cooked by Italian chef..little did we find out it was not. the food was disappointing, the sauce very bland, garlic sauce watered down with a very small portion for the money. but my waiter was great.

    If you love big portions

This is the place for it. Dinner starts off with a basket of toasted bread, so tasty that we finished it all despite knowing we'd get too full to finish our entrees. The mains came in huge portions, and was pretty authentic. The lobster turned out a little rubbery though, but the entire meal was good overall.

    Be careful!

Be careful of the waiters here! They advertise specials outside but you have to specifically ask inside for the list...then they discourage you from ordering them. The food was ok...pretty good but nothing special. I was very ticked when they gave us the credit card receipt with a 20% tip added for a party of 5 (just our family)--but only added the tip after we gave them the card (the 20% tip was not included in the original bill). Although the food was adequate, we just never felt comfortable here.

A Piece of Little Italy Heaven

I visited NYC last week (Nov 16 - 21). My daughter took me to Little Italy for dinner my second night in town. This lovely little restaurant is filled with charm and the food was fantastic! Ditto the wine. I haven't had Italian food this good since my childhood when I visited my great aunt and uncle in California. The Italians know food and wine. The service was wonderful and Rocky and the group are the best.

    good

Not expecting much on an August afternoon as the matre'd's trolled the curbside, we found this little spot wonderful. Service was uninspired (lunch crowds aren't big tickets) but the modest salads, soups and bread were wonderful. The mozzarella was velvety, the greens fresh, broken and the balsamic was perfect. Oh, did I mention the bread? My measure of any restaurant is the bread...must be warm, chewy with crust and enough of a zip to sop up balsamic and oil...this was excellent. Plates and flatware were new and clean. Napkins...too synthetic but clean and ample. I have read terrible dinner reviews but we can only say nice things. And, the prize goes to the restrooms. Never, even in very up scale spots, have we found restrooms you would want to move into. Why they spent this much, we don't know but it is impressive. Who said the little things don't matter...we look forward to returning. If only the waiters were up to the food and restrooms!
