I thought the after dinner drinks were about $3 too high. This restaurant is impeccable in every other way. Gracious service, fish prepared perfectly, good value. The crowd is older, smart folks who know reliable quality. A nice place to have a conversation, no pretense, worth crossing town to enjoy this gem.

The reviewer below can feel free to return ... they've regained their "A" rating. As for me, I never left. I've been coming here for many years and have never been disappointed. Classic French dishes prepared in classic style. The Coquille St. Jacques and onion soup are perfect ... both rich with gruyere. The signature duck dish, the steak au poivre and the lamb preparations are always delicious. The menu never changes (except for the specials) but that's the whole point. The service is gracious, you can carry on a conversation without shouting ... and if you're lucky, "Madame" may be in the mood to sing. Vive La Mirabelle!

I have been eating here for years and it has been one of my favorite restaurants. I don't understand, though, why they have had a "B" from the NYC health dept for five months! I hope they will get their act together and get the "A" back so I can return.

From the time you enter until you leave, you will feel that you have enjoyed a typical French meal--in France! The owners and most of the waitresses are French, the service is excellent, even when they are full, and--most important --the food is authentic and good. Not overly creative, but French classics done well. I enjoy dining here and highly recommend it.

Authentic French food and staff. The peach melba was amazing. Loved every second of my experience here.

I live in the neighborhood, and I always see how full this place gets so I decided to try it. I'm not sure I see what all the fuss is about. The service is good, the owner is lovely - very warm and welcoming but the food is just standard. A few minutes after ordering, our french onion soup came out. Maybe 3-5 minutes after. Amazing fast, but unfortunately the taste wasn't good. It was pretty obvious that it was pre cooked and just sitting in the oven waiting for someone to order it. Cesaer salad was good, chicken OK, monk fish, OK. Desert was delicious though :) The tart of the day was great! Doubt I'll be back, but it was a good experience...
