    Our Go-To Spot

La Locanda is consistently one of the most pleasant restaurants in the neighborhood – the food is straight-forward, fresh and unpretentious, the service is friendly and prompt and the prices are reasonable. It's a family-owned and operated place, and you can really sense hoe much they care about the place and their customers. We have gone there or ordered takeout from here weekly for the past 5 years and have tried almost everything on the menu: don't miss the Saltinboocca or the Eggplant Rollatini – and ask about the daily specials.

    Unfriendly

Mediocre food- diner quality Italian. Very unfriendly atmosphere. We felt as if we had intruded on a private party. Indifferent waitstaff bordering on rude. If you are going to be unwelcoming to new customers, how do you expect them to be repeat customers. Two tries. I would never go back.

    Great neighborhood Italian

La Locanda is a great place to pop in for dinner any night of the week. The food is consistently good, portions are huge and the prices are low. The servers are always friendly. The decor is a bit lacking, but the atmosphere is appropriate for a couple or a group of friends.

    mediocre

The wine was bad, the calamari was mediocre. The sauce with the calamari was greasy and bland. It was all just like pizza joint food. I tried the eggplant rollatini based on the positive recommendation on this site and it was not good. My boyfriend had the chicken parm and didn't like it either. It wasn't putrid or gross, just tasted like run of the mill corner pizza joint food. We didn't try their pizza and we didn't stay for desert. The waitstaff was very nice, though we asked for the check and then they came back to ask if we wanted desert. I gave the value a 3.5 because it was cheap. But it still was not good. The atmosphere is nice in that the restaurant is very clean and they've clearly taken care to keep it presentable, but the room itself is very loud and cavernous and feels like your fellow diners are right on top of you.

    Great local family owned italian

I have been a huge fan of this place for a few years now. The food is delicious, I especially love the calamari and the penne ala vodka. It's a nice escape from the over crowded hipster spots in williamsburgs and the prices are fantastic! I even had my birthday there this year! It's a must in this area....

    La Locanda is a delight.

I am very picky about my food. I was pleasantly surprised when a friend brought me to this place. My tastebuds get bored pretty easily, and when I ate here I was very satisfied. The entrees are large and full of flavor. The atmosphere is very cozy, friendly, and laid back. Most of the diners are all regulars. It gets crowded around 6 or 7 p.m. The food here is a must try.

    Amazing prices - Yum

Lets start with food.... I have long been on a quest for the best calimari and this time and time again is very good. A top 5 contender in the whole city.. The Eggplant Rolatini gave me foodgasms for months... The first time I ate this I couldn't stop talking about it. It was like angels made it melt in my mouth it was so light and fluffy. Drop dead heavenly. People who know I am food critical could not believe how impressed I was. You need to eat this right away when it is served. And I hope you have the same unbelievable experience. I like to experiment and order different things but I confess, I am stuck on the Rollatini. I have tasted other peoples dishes and all have been excellent!! This place has a sweet homey atmosphere and I would come from Manhattan to Brooklyn for the fabulous value anytime. Great for a casual dinner, go even if you are not on a budget. Run there is you are. Slightly romantic place, maybe because you can have an inexpensive date and the wine is cheap.Local character. Not too over run with hipsters yet. Family run with loads of Italian American charm.
