They make up for Sub-par food with very poor service

I have been a resident of the LES for over 12 years and was really excited about trying this place. the food, however, is mediocre at best. In addition, when I asked for hot sauce or a salsa to add to my tacos, I was charged extra. Extra charge for hot sauce at a mexican restaurant. that would be bad enough, except when I asked about it, the waitress said, I am doing my job....and created an issue with me because I didn't agree. I had to finally ask her (repeatedly) to just give me my change (while she continued to try to argue with me). I would never go back there again. there are plenty of other great places in the neighborhood that treat people with respect while at the same time, provide a higher quality of food.

    Great Happy Hour

So maybe if you're looking for top notch Mexican you may want to go elsewhere, but if you want excellent service, a great happy hour and pretty good food you should try La Flaca. I am a fan of the pulled chicken quesadilla which is flavorful and nicely filled for only $7. With $4 wells for a daily happy hour one can not go wrong either especially in this immediate area with so few offerings. The waitstaff is friendly and they don't hover or try to rush you, this is a great place to relax with friends or watch the game on the big screen. I definitely recommend La Flaca for drinks and tasty bites.

    Not to be picky, but...

Enchiladas were like a stack of tortillas with weak runny cheese sauce and raw onions between each. Not rolled. Not stuffed. Not tasty. Not satisfying. Why such little effort put into a dish after we have seen so much improvement in Mexican food in New York? I guess it is called skinny because you will not finish your meal because it tastes disappointing.

    Fun, Drinks, & Great Food!!!

Since I was born in Albuquerque,New Mexico, I believe I know Mexican food. I have had many varieties, styles or whatever, homemade, fast food and a lot of Tex-Mex, Norther New Mexican, and New Mexican. La Flaca is as good as any other and way, way better than most. I will go back.

    Not recommended

I ordered nachos and a Diet Coke for delivery. What did I get? A handful of stale chips with a glob of tasteless guacamole on top, covered in shredded iceberg lettuce and about 13 pinto beans. On the bottom of the aluminum plate was a thin film of "seasoned" cheese whiz. And the Diet Coke? Well, it arrived in a plastic cup covered with masking tape. The ice was melted and the soda was flat, and get this...it wasn't even Diet Coke. I called and spoke to someone and he said they don't actually sell Diet Coke. It's a generic "syrup/soda mixture that most restaurants in New York serve". Yes, that's what he said. Excuse for the nachos? Well, the owner said that it's a "New Mexican" restaurant and that often people expect something different but "New Mexican" is different. Different? No. Not different. I could have gotten better nachos at another restaurant $15 for some stale chips and a fake coke. $5 to the delivery guy. That's all the money La Flaca will ever get from me or anyone I know.

    new mexican at its best

not be confused with standard boring mex food, this is NEW MEXICAN... and the best i have ever had. the place is a real neighbourhood joint, with brilliant food, friendly and no attitude staff and just really relaxing. no pretension here. I would highly recommend it if you like flavorful meals, great portions and its light on the wallet. New Mexican is my new favourite food thanks to this place! Well done!

    A gem of a restaurant

A party of eight of us went downtown to celebrate my goddaughter's birthday, and I must say We were all pleasantly surprised. The food was great, the atmosphere was festive and the service was impeccable. The staff went out of their way to make sure everyone had an enjoyable and memorable time; especially the birthday girl. We are planning a return visit very soon.
