La Estufa (CLOSED)

Other than my amazing entree (salmon a la vodka), the experience was sub-par. The appetizer (mushroom truffle crustini) was embarrassing.

Our experiences with La Estufa have been consistently good. The burgers are flavorful and are cooked to your specification (medium rare is actually medium rare!). The accompanying yuca or french fries are seasoned well. The skirt steak has also been well prepared and sizzling. The black linguini with spicy calamari sauce does not disappoint in either flavor or value. Dine-in patrons are treated to an unusual but always tasty selection of breads and dip. The dining room's exposed brick and moody lighting are highlights of the atmosphere. The wall of windows overlooking Broadway make the small space seem larger. Try to score a high table by the window and watch the neighborhood walk by. The large flat-screen TV on the front wall detracts from the atmosphere unless you're into telenovelas or sporting events. Several times we have noticed after walking out that grill smells from the open kitchen linger on our clothes. On the other hand the wait staff has always been helpful and professional, even at closing time. Even at this hour the bathrooms remain clean. So far, La Estufa is cooking on all burners for our taste.

Some good first...The pasta was great and the tomato basil sauce was excellent. Now for the bad...The skirt steak was way too fatty, and the lettuce was slimy and wilted. The service was very gracious though. There is no atmosphere at all. I don't think I will be back.

Had a wonderful dinner there. The atmosphere is so nice and the food, especially the skirt steak, is delicious and very reasonable. The staff is friendly and welcoming and that was a relief given that we had just come left Garden Cafe after seating ourselves and being completely ignored. We'll definitely go back to La Estufa.

I love this place. Everything I have ordered (except for the yuka fries) has been flavorful and delicious. I recently moved out of the neighborhood and find I miss their steak, portobello mushrooms, and salads. Delivery was always very fast and extremely reliable. Everyone who works there is attentive and kind. This is a great place.

The food at La Estufa is great and very healthy. We love the salads. They are large and always fresh. I've only eaten in the restaurant once but ordered delivery many, many times. They are always friendly on the phone, remember our address by phone number and deliver very quickly. My family still talks about the food we ordered for them the last time they drove up from Virginia to visit :).

I went there last week and was pleasantly surprised. The place was small but the food was wonderful. The waiter did forget our appetizer but apologized and promptly brought it out. I ordered the skirt steak with the fresh cut fries and fresh salad. Sooooo good!!! Nobody beats their prices. Would definitely recommend.
