This is not a restaurant, its a CLUB!
Feb.11 (Sat) around 11pm. I was interested in eating at the cafe but the employee directed me to head down to the basement floor since the cafe closed for the day. So as I was trying to walk through the entrance door, security dude says,"Cant let u in...", The only restaurant in the world that serves mediocre mexican food that choose people who could dine-in. While I was having the conversation with the "dude" , they let girls by-pass me without a word. The girls did look glamorous, but so what! I don't need to eat at a restaurant that intimidates guests by policy.

Skip the fuss, go to the cafe
Went to the cafe (not the taqueria) last night and had the most amazing meal. The atmosphere is low-key and comfortable and the waiters were super-friendly and unpretentious. The menu is a little less extensive than the one at the restuarant downstairs, but they do have the same 100+ tequilas available. We had the tortilla soup (best I've ever had), the grilled fish tacos, pulled pork tacos, moras and christianos, and the grilled string beans (highly recommended) -- plus two margaritas and the bill came to less than $50. We were satisfied and reluctant to leave -- we'll be back soon! Not sure what the fuss is about the restaurant downstairs, but the cafe was a great dining experience

Great Find!
What a great place to meet for brunch. My girlfriends and I loved our meals. The breakfast burrito is scrumptious as is the cheese dipped corn on the cob. I'd also recommend their breakfast tortas. I'd definitely go back.

Eating with your neighbors
Food, service, decor - all incredible. However, unless you come with a large party, you get seated about 6 inches from the tables on either side of you. So if you come with a 2-top, expect to be overhearing conversation and being overheard throughout the meal.

Great Night
I went here with my friend b/c she had heard it was good. When I first got there I thought to myself "Why do you need reservations at a crappy little taco bar?". I quickly realized the "cool factor" of this place. They take you through the kitchen and downstairs into an amazing little dining room. The food was great....I recommend just ordering a bunch of little things and sharing. I really enjoyed the tacos!! Overall it was a relaxing and fun night...I would definitely go again. And you MUST have reservations or you will be waiting for awhile.

Sanctuary to let go and have fun
It was awesome. I loved the service. The staff was hot and charismatic. I felt like I was in a totally different world. I felt like I could really connect with the people that go there. I loved the gothic church atmosphere. It is the closest you can get to going on a roller coaster ride in the city

Great Experience
The food, atmosphere and service was great. The restaurant area is absolutely beautiful - dark, romantic and rustic. You will be amazed because upstairs is a no frills taco stand. The music was great too. I think it was a Johnny Cash Album. The pulled pork taco (small plate) was delicious. I had the ribs as a main and they were great too. I tasted a chicken taco and it was very tasty too. The Sangria I did not love, but the Blood Orange Margarita is fantastic for someone with a sweet tooth like me. Went on a Friday night. The person that guards the door before you enter the dining room has an attitude, but what restaurant doesn't have a person with attitude these days. Our waitress though was an absolute sweetheart and really took the time to explain the menu to us and recommend her favorites. She was very genuine and absolutely attentive to our party of 7. Really one of the nicest waitresses I have encountered. I'm glad I went and would like to go again to try other plates.
