    Don't beleive the hype

I went last night for my first time. Yes they definitely have a major attitude that is not deserved at this place. I wanted to smack a few of the employees at various times. Was there on a business dinner which most restaurants welcome. First our table (which is in their basement/ dinning room) smelled like a mixure of rotten cheese and a public restroom. The food was decent but nothing to write home about, and we definitely got more food then we even were going to eat and they still were pushing us to hurry and leave by half way through the meal. As a whole I would not recommend this stuck up place. We got there before our host who's name the guy at the door couldn't even understand and then gave us attitude. All in all it seems OK for a quick drink and some appitizers but there are much better choices in the neiborhood. This place does not deserve the ego it seems to have.

    Amazing

This is the first menupages review I've ever written and i go on here all the time. But my experience at La Esquina moved me to write. I just want everyone to go! The dishes were full of well-paired specific flavors and the unpretentious cafe style was perfect for what became a romantic, chilly-day early dinner. I dined in the cafe and I can't wait to sit at the counter.

    disappointing birthday luncheon

Since the weather was still warm enough to dine outside, my husband and I went to this restaurant because it is near my job and we had heard so many rave reviews. It was our first time and we asked the hostess if there was outdoor table service...none of the outdoor tables were occupied. She told us that we could eat inside for table service or get our own food and bring it out ourselves and she indicated where we should go to order. After we received our food and selected a table, we were told we had to move, that the tables were reserved for dining room customers. I reminded her that we had asked her about how to order the food. She initially replied that we misunderstood, then she said she may have misspoken. Either way, we were told to move immediately! Only two of the approximately eight tables were occupied at that point. It was insulting and embarrassing and we received no appologies. I had to stand at a counter to eat my birthday meal!! It was not the special treat we had had in mind. We would have gone inside if she had explained the procedure accurately to us. She should have at least apologized and allowed us to stay put since it was 2:30pm and few people were eating inside or outside! I won't go there again!!

    Brilliant!

Heard many rave reviews about this place and decided to give it a try. I can honestly say this is the best meal I've had in my life. Our waitress was fabulous, and the food is still making my mouth water. If you go definetly try the pork ribs succulent, tasty and fall right off the bone. Can't wait to come back.

This Is The Place To Eat

If I could eat Mexican food every night, this is the place to eat. I have been there at least 4 times and every time I eat something new and better than the last. All my friends go there now, I can't stop raving about La Esquina and their food! Now their atmosphere is perfection and ultra cool, but for me food and drinks matter more than anything else and this is the place.

    poor service and attitude

Been going to this place since it opened. Loved the atmosphere downstairs and the taco stand upstairs. The food is just ok and what you're really paying for is the atmosphere... But man has this place started to sour big time.. I don't care about how hip you think your place is but when your host's attitude is this bad and the service rude to the customer then why do'nt you just stop pretending you run a restauraunt and just turn the place into a night club like you originally intended...later.

    New host please..

When I was outside, it looked like the typical taqueria I would see back home on the Texas-Mexico border, and the cooks and people taking orders at the stand were very friendly. However, the host who was letting people into the exclusive restaurant was rude and pretentious. He seemed completely displaced in the otherwise friendly environment. And most Mexican restaurants (at least the more authentic ones) keep the warm vibe alive, in tune with Mexican culture. He also wouldn't let people see what the exclusive restaurant was like inside. If that's the case, they should have a brochure or some way of advertising how the sit-down area is. Most people like to see what they're getting before they make reservations for a party... Otherwise, the tacos were excellent, but a little on the pricey side if you ask me. I could normally get an order of 3 corn taquitos de whatever for the same price they charge for 1.
