The waiter was completely dismissive, ignoring us, literally "waving off our questions" then, at the end of the night informed us that it is standard to leave a 20% gratuity. We left 15% b/c of his poor service (this is the 1st time we EVER left less then 20%; usually leave 20-25%) We replied that the gratuity is reflective of the service. He snapped at us stating that he has the right to refuse us service. Unbelievable. Two of the dishes were good. The special - seafood was completely not fresh. I'm embarassed to say, but I spit the muscle out into the napkin secretly.

There were 4 persons in our party on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was not busy. We were not in a big hurry but the server was not attentive either. The food was okay, but nothing special. We paid the bill and left the restaurant and were on the stairway into the nearby subway and the waiter came after us and showed us the bill and asked if something was wrong with the service because of the amount of the tip that we left which was a 15%. We told him that is what we wanted to give him and he said money will need to come out of his pocket because the tip was not enough.

We went to this restaurant becuase it's in my neighborhood and my friends wanted to ry it. Bad idea. We're not that picky but: they're was a long wait, the service was bad. The food wasn't hot and they got miffed when we asked them the warm it up and we ate it it was lousy. Don't go! Do yourself a favoe!

I've read some of the negative reviews of La Carbonara and my feeling is these people wouldn't happy anywhere. The food is excellent (the egg plant appetizer is worth the trip), the staff couldn't be more obliging and the prices are amazingly reasonable. The bar serves excellent cocktails and their wine list is extensive and not overpriced. My only criticism would be the noise level, but I still wouldn't let that keep me away from this fabulous restaurant. Since this place is always busy, I think I'm not alone in my opinion.

I loved the food and the atmosphere. Great place. It will cost around 50$ with a glass of wine...

I ordered from this restaurant off Seamless. I specified I wanted the whole wheat penne instead of the pasta the bolognese dish came with. The food came and I saw a missed call from the restaurant on my phone and a voicemail saying they couldn't give me the whole wheat penne since it was $2 extra. The least they could've done is given it to me and then said next time they'd have to charge me. Major bummer. It's $2. The food wasn't good either. Completely average. Never ordering again.

We had heard high reviews of the place and were very disappointed. Started with attempt to make reservation online (only way) and had to provide credit card and guarantee payment of $25 per person ($250/10 ppl) whether we showed up or not. While we were there, there wasn't even any people waiting to be seated and there was plenty of space so do not understand the reason for the guarantee except to rip people off. Service okay, food was not (e.g. sweet taste to short ribs which was not common, calamari wasn't that good). We wanted candles put on cupcakes for birthday person and were told there would be chg of $3 per person for it. We said we would just bring them out and sing happy birthday and were told it wasn't allowed. Will never return here again.
