Every dog has its day, and perhaps every restaurant has its bad days, as evinced by some of the previous reviews, but my experience here was fantastique. One can't always trust reviews on a websites, and I'm not asking you to trust mine, but I don't have one single complaint. I made a reservation for a party of 8 for a Saturday. The place was busy and we were seated right away. The waitstaff was friendly, courteous, and the entire experience was authentically French, especially the food. I don't like servers who are constantly checking in on you. I prefer them to come when the wine caraffe needs filling. (By the way, the house red wine was great.) The crepes, the hamburger, the filet mignon, the salads - all perfect. I often have friends visit from out of town, and when we're in the theater/Times Square district, it's always difficult to find something good and reasonable. We had plenty of wine, soup, main course, and shared some desserts, and we each walked away spending $35 - and this included tip. This is my new place. Merci La Bonne Soupe!

I recently went to lunch at La Bonne Soup and I must say that I do not intend on returning. The hostess who seated us had a "cold" and non-friendly demeanor. Also, the food was o.k., but because the soup I ordered was too salty for my taste, I requested a different soup. Shortly thereafter the manager came out & asked the table next to us "Is your soup too salty? A customer complained about it being too salty." The waiter had informed him that I had requested a different soup, but I simply requested a soup because it was too salty for "my" taste. It was not necessary to make a big deal out of this situation. The only "bright spot" to our dining experience is that our waiter was a gentleman.

I came to La Bonne Soupe recently with a group of girlfriends and we all loved our experience! The food was great and the prices very reasonable. I love that all the entrees come with a delicious salad they serve as an appetizer before the meal comes. We all loved our meals - we stuck mostly to burgers and sandwiches. The wine was great and also reasonable. I highly recommend this place for couples or friends looking for a nice restaurant in midtown with reasonable prices - believe me they aren't easy to find!

My sister and I and our friends love this restaurant. We live in NJ but come into the city frequently--our choice for lunch is ALWAYS La Bonne Soupe. We love the fondue and the salad w/delicious dressing. The bread and butter are perfect. The manager and staff are kind and courteous. The pate is superb and beautifully presented. Before moving to NJ I lived in NYC eating in many restaurants--La Bonne Soupe is still tops on my list. Thanks for being there. I've introduced many people to this charming, comfortable real New Yorker's restaurant.

My family and I chose La Bonne Soupe for our annual Christmas time of year visit to NYC. The food was delicious, really can't go wrong with ordering anything on the menu. We were all satisfied with the food and the atmosphere. Our only complaint was our waitress's attitude. It is a shame that such a restaurant would keep staff who haven't learned manners. She was very kirt with us which made our experience a little uncomfortable when she was at our table. Other than this unprofessional member of the staff, everybody else was very pleasant. We would return again.

Very charming place. Wait staff very pleasant and friendly. Fondue is incredible! Have tried other dishes--they are great too, but the fondue is must-have!

I have eaten here many times but never written a review. Here are the positives: cheese fondue is excellent/soups are good/made reservations and our table was waiting for us/service was well-paced/water glasses filled. Here are the negatives: surly waitress/request to substitute soup for salad was met with a curt "no"/she was so rude we had to laugh/ordered 2 fondues for our party of seven and were told she would give us one larger portion because it was easier for the kitchen. still charged us the price of two pots-$45. I would still recommend it, but expect a New York meets Paris attitude.
