Not recommended
We just moved to the neighborhood and walked by this place - looked nice enough so took a menu for takeout. wish we hadn't. for apps we had the spicy kuta wings - undercooked and not impressed but let's move on. i order pad thai all the time - try at least a dozen or more variations a year and this is the most unappetizing one i have had in new york. dry & the flavors/seasoning wasn't even identifiable as pad thai. the noodles were mushy/chewy. we also ordered the rendang beef. arrived with little beef turds floating in an oil slick of brownish coconut milk. so unappetizing. we ordered a few other things for the entire group to share -- not worth mentioning because you get the idea.....we immediately threw out the menu, threw out the food, regretted the wasted money, and ordered elsewhere.

Great meats and cocktails
Great deal for a prix-fixe, which is basically a well-paced, well-proportioned four-course meal. excellent from start to finish. the starter kuta wings were killer, as were the potstickers. kalbi satay also superb. the duck curry was balanced and consistently interesting. top it off with some ice cream...done deal. highly recommended.

Great satay
When we entered the restaurant, the aroma coming from the kitchen was so fragant !. We ordered: spicy pinapple mushroom satay, balinese spicy shrimp satay & madura sweet soy sauce satay. Each with a distinctive flavour, fragance, aroma, & supper taste, DELICIOUS. Though the steak salad and the Sundanese Rujak had too much onion. But the taste of the Sundanese Rujak was delicious. The dessert was excellent: krakatoa banana & apple compote on a crepe with ice cream, & lime cilantro sorbet, refreshing, clean , surprisingly yummy. Go and try for yourself. Look forward to go again and try more dishes.

Skip it
I went here for a friend's birthday dinner. The food was boring and the usual chewy, overcooked meats and peanut sauces. Nothing subtle or special. The chair I was in was way too close to the next table and the people banged me a billion times (waiter too). The service was horrible: we didn't get proper settings and had to wait 10 minutes to get knives. Basic people, basic. It also took another 15 to get the check. Once again, the LES has no idea how to run restaurant and the hipsters eat it up.

Great find!
I am particular to Indonesian food so Kuta was a pleasant find. The food was excellent (especially the fried fish and oxtail soup), the service excellent and the atmosphere hip and intimate. I definitely intend to go back.

Great Indonesian place!
Great new restaurant in the LES. Mostly Indonesian menu with some Pan-Asian/Thai fusion. Specialty cocktails were excellent. They have a large selection of satay. Great deal is $25 four course prefixe - satay, app, entree, dessert. The food was all excellent and spicy! I recommend any of the satay (jimbaran/bali shrimp VERY spicy), the crabcake (best I have had anywhere), the duck, the pad thai, heck it was all good! The restaurant is small, cozy, and noisy.. but fun! When I was there, a tv station from Bali was taping a segment about the restaurant I just got back from Bali in January and won't comment on the authenticity of this compared to Balinese food in Kuta, simply because this restaurant is going for fusion. The taste and spice is generally reflective though. The Bali spicy shrimp satay at the restaurant reminded me of my dinner on the beach in Jimbaran Bay, for sure.
