Freshest sashimi and sushi indeed
They are using the freshest ingredients. Rice in sushi was nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly. Sashimi was amazingly fresh. The price was a bit high, but considering the quality of the ingredients, it's well worth the extra dollars. The interior was rather unimpressive. Aside from lacquered tables, there really wasn't anything special, but then I wasn't there for the interior design.

Great fish
I was delighted with the freshness and wide-selection of fish here. Definitely do an omakase. We had sashimi omakase and were offered nothing but the best fish around. Very fresh sashimis, delicate and melt in your mouth quality. Not only that, they offer fish that are uncommon in the market. nothing like plain tuna or salmon sashimis. Leave it to the chef and he'll take great care of you. We had a great dinner there. I must agree with other reviewers that the price was a little steep indeed for such low key place.

The Freshest Fish in NYC
This amazing, tiny, low-key place will cost you a lot of money but it will be money well spent. Kuruma is widely regarded by those in the know as among the best if not the best sushi joint in NYC. My only complaints are that the menu selection is somewhat limited and the prices quite steep. For sushi go to Kuruma or Seki , for Kaiseki style check out Sugiyama or Masa.

This IS the best sushi in NY
If you are serious about your sushi and you can afford it, this is the place. Fish that you don't see in other restaurants appears here. The service is unobtrusive and the food is divine.

The best sushi in New York City
Kuruma Zushi is only for the most serious, discriminating, sushi purists. This is not the place for celebrity watching and experimental sushi dishes. They have THE best fish in manhattan, and the experience was for me spiritual and transcendant. It is expensive, but after you try it, you will think all the other sushi is a waste of time.

Great find
Great food flown in fresh from Japan. Terrific sashimi at top prices. Nice selection of saki. Prompt service. Hard to find.
