Best Japanese delivery in the West Village & great prices

I've ordered in a lot in the last few years, and found Kumo has the best Japanese delivery for the money in the area. (I've only reviewed a few places when I had a bad experience--this is my first positive one, since I was shocked it only had three stars - deserves at least 4 or 4.5 - and want them to stick around. Too many good places with reasonable lunch specials are closing) There are few places where you can order a healthy lunch at such a good price, food's always been fresh w/quality vegetables (like thick snow peas, not the thin kind) many other places skimp on. Delivery has always been friendly - only time in past 2 years they gave me the wrong order & fixed it quickly. I don't always believe positive reviews on websites (think they may be plants), but one order will prove this review is legit.

    Not recommended

Poorest sushi/delivery service in my 5 years in New York. Fish was extremely poor quality and discolored. After throwing it in the trash, I called to complain. They said if I wanted a refund, I'd have to dig it out of the trash so someone could come and pick it up, which I did, albeit begrudgingly. They then refused to refund me because there were "only a few pieces" returned (1. Not true 2. Ridiculous).

Big, meaty pieces of sushi for a great price!

So, i never leave reviews. For anything. But i felt compelled to write something for this restaurant. I just ordered their 3-roll lunch special and am simply impressed. I'm so tired of sushi joints where the rolls are 90% rice with a tiny sliver of fish inside, and am really moved by Kumo's sushi. The pieces are big, with copious amounts of fish inside. So refreshing. The fish was pretty good quality, definitely a step above other budget sushi places. Additionally, they'll do brown rice sushi for no extra charge, and the girl on the phone was very nice when i called. I'll be ordering from them again for sure.

    Pretty good, good value

I got delivery from this place a few weeks ago with my bf. I had walked by the place and saw all the deals in the window so I took a menu. They have a 3 roll deal for 9.95 and all you can eat deals (not just at lunch time). I found the food good quality and on par with other sushi places I frequently eat at or order from. My sister told me she is wary of all you can eat sushi places, she feels the food is probably not as good quality. Figured other people might have some thoughts. I get her point, that there is a reason they might be so cheap in prices, but I found the food to be good. Admittedly it maybe wasn't the BEST sushi I have ever had, but for the price it was a good meal.
