Kinda bad
I went here for lunch one day and ordered what I thought would be safe bets: fried rice and a wonton noodle soup. The wontons tasted like they were filled with dog food, and the fried rice had a weird, rancid smell. In fact, everyone I was with thought their food tasted weird and off. Also, the soup was lukewarm, making it even worse. I wouldn't go back here, not in a million years.

Best Chinese food in all of NY!!
I've been coming to Kum Kau for so many years now!!! As a Fort Greene native, everyone knows Kum Kau is the best chinese spot. I always order the chicken and broccoli (shredded instead of sliced) with lo mein. They also have the best fried shrimp wontons. They pretty much have every dish perfected...chicken wings, general tso's chicken and shrimp, broccoli with garlic sauce, sweet and sour chicken,...(oh yea they also have the best pork fried rice). For some people the food may be a little too greasy but...kum kau has the formula down. Kum Kau has two sections to it. They have the take out section and right next to it is the dining section. Kum Kau is highly recommended and anybody i ever bring to kum kau ALWAYS loves it too!!

Great General Tso's chicken
I have enjoyed everything I have tasted from here and the general tso's is some of the best in NY. I get all white meat in the general tsos chicken and a generous portion of broccoli comes with the order as well. if you order take-out be prepared to wait a long time especially on weekends so call in advance.

Open late but not too good
While I do appreciate their late hours and very efficient operation (tip: call ahead), I've now tried about 20 things on their menu and have never thought any of it was very good. I understand this is American-style Chinese food, but even those menu items like General Tso's chicken which should be decent at this sort of establishment are just like everything else: gloppy, indistinct chunks of mystery meat with overcooked vegetables and syrupy sauce. If that's your thing, you might like this place more than me.

Great food and service!
Kum Kau possesses great food and service, which is an excellent combination. I would recommend their Tai Chin Chicken. For those who are vegetarians, just request the Tai Chin Sauce with tofu.

great cus theyre open
this place rates because when it counts they are ACTUALLY open. Yes, you have to walk and pick it up...but its worth it since the other neighborhood fools close their doors at noon. NOTE TO FOOLS: keep longer hours. Then maybe youd be successful. Its a service industry...learn to serve!
