Kum Gang San

Don't get their special galbi which is more expensive. Try regular galbi with ribs and it's more meaty, juic, and better value! Tried other BBQ places in k-town, east village, tribecca, and downtown but KGS is the best when it comes to galbi.

Great Korean restaurant morning, noon, night or drunk when the sun is coming up. We've eaten or gotten take out dozens of times - never disappoints. Korean barbeque is excellent, but so is the other stuff too. Good, efficient service. The fake rocks grow on you. Don't miss it.

This place has the best Kalbi, so soft and delicious. The service was great and the environment was very lively. I would suggest everybody to try the other dishes too. Wasn't a single thing that wasn't delicious.

fun place. waterfalls and live music. some times traditional. sometimes jazz. fun interesting food. makes you feel like youre chowing in the himalayas wondering when the sherpas will come out...

I got this tip form a Korean bar manager in my neighborhood. I finally went and tried it at 1:30 AM on a weekday and the food was off the charts! Vegetables come out right away after ordering and they where some of the best I've ever tried before as far as freshness, variety and the way they where prepared. Ordered shrimp and beef short ribs as the entree, (you can bbq at the table but we had them prepared in the kitchen) they where both excellent. I stuffed myself like a sheik but I feel that on a whole it was an exceptionally healthy meal. I see many of the other reviews on this site refer to rude waiters but I saw none of that, our guy was very nice and actually brought over a complimentary drink for my lady. If you have any interest at all in Asian food, you must try this joint.

i used to go to kum kang san often because i found their food much better than the other korean restaurants 32nd st., despite its rude, hurried service. however after one particular incident i've never gone back. my sister and i waited 30 minutes before we could even order our food. the food was great, as usual. but after we paid our bill and were about to head out the door, we were chased down by several waiters accusing us loudly in front of the other guests of not leaving a tip. I told them it was on the table and to check again, which they did, saw it, and then waved us away without any apology for the misunderstanding. it's not like i left a stingy tip either, despite the bad service. their food is good, but not good enough to come back when you've been treated like crap by the wait staff.

although im not korean, i LOVE korean food and have been to almost every korean joint in town. and i would have to say that this is my favorite place to go, especially when im with big groups of pp, taking clients out, or getting friends together for a celebration. their "special" kalbi is THE best korean bbq in the city, not cheap, about 25 a person, but well worth the price. its a fun atmostphere, service sometimes can be slow when its busy, but they are very generous with the side portions. you can even ask them to refill the ones you like if they dont do it automatically! in summary, i love this place and would recommend it to anyone wanting a full sampling of this fun and healthy cuisine and also a general great time.
