A pretty room. Short, but precise menu. Non-existent service. After no one came near our table in the first half hour of arrival , I had to get up to find a waiter. It took almost 2 hours from arrival to the finish of the entree. And it was only meatloaf. Hardly fine dining. And in a room with only 6 occupied tables! This place needs a manager.

pros: atmosphere, service. cons: food was not good. pork was dry, meatballs tough. great presentation is not enough to offset poor quality.

The food was amazingly delicious but the service was so amateurish that our good nature was sorely tested. We had to ask for bread which, when it came was delicious and warm and gratis; we had to ask twice for an extra napkin, etc., etc., etc. But the scallops on a sweet pea and mint risotto were superspecial as was the dessert. Good, generous wine pour, too. We will go back and hope the young actor who was our waiter will be rehearsing for a role as an efficient waiter

We so wanted this restaurant to become our "new favorite" when we went early Saturday evening. The restaurant itself is beautiful, sleek and inviting. However, we were extremely disappointed with the stinginess of the portions as well as having no bread, rolls, breadsticks, etc. available. The two of us ordered one appetizer, two entrees which were tiny, had one drink and two draft beers. We left hungry and $118 dollars lighter (before tip). I doubt we will ever go back.

My two friends and I went to the Signature Theatre last night and decided to try KTCHN since we usually eat after theatre and KTCHN was next door and open late for dining. I will say that this restaurante has the potential to be a great asset to the neighborhood, only if a few things are changed. First of all, the atmosphere was lovely. I very much liked the fact of more casual, livlier dining in the front bar area or a choice of more formal, quieter dining in the attractive back dining room. However, two things need improvement. First, the service. Although the friendly staff did their best with the crowded room, it took more time than usual, or prefeferable, for someone to pay attention to us. Then, when the polite server actually did approach us, we were asked "Are you ready or order?" Since we were celebrating a birthday, we wanted to order cocktails first but were not given that option. We ordered cocktail anyway. Then, the cocktails arrived AFTER the appetizers. A definite no-no! Having to ask for bread? A second no-no. The food was very good but the portions were relatively small for the price. As I mentioned before, KTCHN has the potential to be a wonderful addition to the area, but still has a ways to go.
