    Flavor

The food, both sushi and udon, hijiki salad, etc., at this place has great flavor. I love ordering here. Everything tastes fresh. I am always very satisfied and pleased. Nothing is too salty or sweet. Best Japanese in the neighborhood. Nice people too. They will make stuff for you that is not on the menu.

    Amazing sushi!

The sushi here are the best! Two days ago, my wife and I ordered a sushi deluxe, Alantic roll, and a chicken pad thai and it both came with miso soup/salad. The salad was fresh and the ginger salad dressing was amazing! The Alantic roll was recommended by one of the waiters and taste awesome. Apparently it's a new creation of Kotobuki. I highly recommend this place to anyone whose craving for Japanese/Thai foods.

    Great sushi!

Nobody has written a review it looks like since 2207, but the sushi here is incredible! We ordered off seamlessweb and it was quick and so fresh! I highly recommend it.

    New Owners Killed Kotobuki

Was awesome but new owners destroyed this place. I ordered delivery tonight and what I got was pathetic. Ordered the sushi sashimi combo. Smallest pieces of sushi I have ever seen. Fish didn't taste fresh so I tossed it. Not worth the risk of spending the night next to the toilet. The Ika Maruyaki (grilled squid) wasn't grilled. Tasted like it they nuked it in a microwave. I called back to add something to my order. The guy on the phone couldn't find the order because they put it under the wrong address. Sat on the phone for almost 10 mins while they tried to figure out the mystery. I asked for extra soy sauce. I got no soy sauce. Had to go to the local bodega to buy some. Bottom line: avoid at all costs. There's a billion sushi places in NYC. Go to any of them before eating at Koto-puki.

New chef since the other reviews?

I definitely chose this place based on the previous reviews, and I'm pretty dissapointed. Ordered a sushi deluxe, shumai, and a Green Fuji maki roll, and nothing is interesting. Shumai is fine, defrosted well, I guess. As for the sushi, well I don't normally order regular combos and usually stick to a few rolls, and now I remember why. The "9" pieces are pathetically small, barely distinguishable by color, and not at all distinguishable by taste or texture. At least the wasabi is strong or I'd think I was eating tofu. The Green Fuji, a salmon-avocado with onions and what was supposed to be seaweed topping is also puny, and has a light sprinkle of dried parsley. Delivery was fast, at least.

    Great Food Great Price

For nearly 3 years the wife and I have been weekly regulars at this Columbia Waterfront District gem. The sushi is always fresh, creative and delicious. Chef Kim & the crew do a great job of offering both innovative new selections and traditional favorites. For the adventurous eaters ask about the “Chef Selection” menu…you’ll be blown away by some interesting and unexpected combinations. Good selection of cold saki compliments a very nice menu. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always willing to accommodate. We’ve been lucky enough to eat sushi at some of New York’s most exclusive and hyped restaurants…Kotobuki is right up there and a lot more affordable.

Yes we are lucky to have a place like Kotobuki, I live in Long Island we have 2 of them.My only regret that my house is between places so no one is close to meI was very happy to know about the 3 one, hope to visitthis place very soon. I was never disappointed in the last 3 years,I ate there about once a week,my son now 10 year old loved to.
