Recently went to Koi with a co worker for lunch this past week. Food was decent came out in a timely manner, service was great. noticed female manager yell at one of the staff about the way he took (looked like a busser) who was carrying a full load of plates), it definitely messed up the mood. I ask one of the staff who it was and I was told it was the general manager. From the look on faces of some of the surrounding staff it was apparent that this kind of abuse happened quite often but when I spoke with the server for a while about how he liked working there, I could tell the server didnt want to go into much detail. Overall I liked the restaurant, the food could have been prettier, but the over all vibe of the place is nice. But I dont know if I would bring lots of people just based on the way that I see the staff treated, I hate when I go to restaurants and everything is good the atmosphere is nice but then you see something like this that just ruins it for you. I might go back

Great scene but just a little bright. Food is great and not too overpriced if you order correctly. Beware, cocktails are $15! Started with the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice and the creamy rock shrimp tempura. Yum! Must get these 2! Share the Lamb chops....so good! For Dessert I got the flouless choc cake and van icecream (so tired of it as every place has this as their dessert) but at Koi it's the best! I'll be back for sure.

My first experience at Koi was last night for a work holiday dinner. Our food and waiter were wonderful. Some of the best Asian cusine I've had in NYC. Great drinks. It was a lovely dinner. The problems started after dinner when we went to collect our coats. There were 2 young, and obviously overwhelmed, coat room girls who lost 4 coats and bags. We were some of the first people to be seated for dinner. The girls took our coats and said they would bring us our tickets. They gave us one ticket for 4 people. When our coats could not be found the manager insisted that this was not possible, and that said that we must have been missing tickets. Now, I own a very green coat that stands out in a sea of black. It was not in that coat room. After 35 minutes our coats were found at a table on the opposite end of the dinning room from where we sat. To top it off, one of my coworkers had his wallet and cell phone in his coat, which had also gone missing. These miraculously turned up hours later at the hotel lobby front desk. This experience ruined a wonderul dinner. Koi needs to step it up. What if we had a client with us and they lost our client's coat? They know how busy they will be based on reservations, and should be properly prepared. A situation like this is unnacceptable, and we may never go back.

I took a client who loves sushi and has been to all of the bst in the city..and Koi ranks up there with the best. Dynamite service, terrific food (all recommended by the waiter) and nice ambience. Only downside was the table was a little cramped and too close to the table next to us. I will go again

pros: - lobster avocado salad is a sure hit. - service is fine. - atmosphere is great. love the decor. cons: - somewhat overpriced. - portions are small, and rolls are mediocre. - some dishes are hit or miss.

Really subpar rolls covered in all types of sauces to hide the lack of flavor and freshness of seafood. They are known for their crispy rice with tuna on top. The Tuna was ground up, didn't look appealing and had no flavor. Thank god for Soy Sauce. Our waiter was nice and the Ginger drink on the menu was tasty and potent. Very expensive meal, but prices in line for a "Hotel Restaurant". Not worth it and would not recommend to anyone.

i had an early reservation and was still asked to wait for almost 10 minutes--then when i was seated i saw that practically all the tables were opened. besides that, koi was really good--the food is kind of expensive (lobster avocado salad as an appetizer was great but $29!) but it was all fresh and perfectly satisfying.
