Great place, great prices for Europeans

I was here for the second time. Last time was with my friend in 2006 en then we were very surprises about the quality and the prices....so inexpencive...in Holland, were I live, sushi is VERY expensive, so $ 4.00 for a roll is nothing and of course.....I was very happy to have found this place again two weeks ago when I was in NY with my boyfriend.

    More than I expected

We were seated very fast and the options on the menu were very unique. The Yankees and the Boston were delicious along with the fried ice cream!

    Love it! Great Tempura

I’ve been to this restaurant many times and will keep going back. There teriyaki and tempura are to die for. I have brought several of my friends here and so far no complaints. I haven’t really tried there sushi the closes I’ve come is there avocado roll, cucumber w/ avocado roll and their California rolls which were all good. One of my friends and I made this our spot to be after a good movie. There fried ice-cream (green Tea) is highly recommended. The area is small a little old school but cozy, they won’t forget your there. If you go here I don’t think you would be disappointed.

    sabishi nihon

This is where I go when I'm missing Japan. The decore is simple and open yet cosie, and the wait staff are great. If you need anything just flag one over and ask - remember in Japan they don't pester you; they keep a watchfull eye from a distance, but it only takes a glance around to make eyecontact and have someone rushing over. As for the food: they have the most authentic udon in the city, and I highly recomend all of the chef specials of the day. For dessert have the green tea creps with ginger icecream - so fresh and yummy!

    Average

Shumai was good but it came with (no joke here) French's mustard and american style bbq sauce. The eel was above average and the shrimp tempura roll was good. The squid was subpar and unlike any I've had before. Too much cream cheese in the Philly roll (clearly serves as a filler instead of something adding to flavor). Spicy tuna roll was different than normal and was not spicy at all. Overall not too bad but i won't be back. it falls somewhere near the middle of the hundreds of suhsi places in NYC.

    Old-School Gem

Love this place. Visited again after long absence. Nothing new-age or trendy about this spot, just dependable, tasy food and real New York atmosphere. Bar scene can be interesting too. Might spot actors, musicians or biz types on a good night. They know where the good spots are.

    Great hidden gem

The service was a bit slow, but the food was delicious, extremely fresh and a good value. The atmosphere wasn't much, but it's not without its old school ny charms, and i often find that decor and ambiance often trump the quality of the food at trendier spots. I'd absolutely return.
