Poor Man's Peter Lugers!!
Knickerbocker has a really amazing steak for two with all the classic sides including creamed spinach, mashed potatoes and, onion strings. It's like Peter Lugars just a few notches down, which is not a bad thing! So what if the customers at Knickerbocker are aged more than the steaks!! They still have a nice steak that is always cooked to perfection, and pair it with their awesome martinis and you'll have a great night out!!

Local spot
Good local spot that's a throwback to old new York. It isn't about contemporary arty food - it's just old skool comfort food in a comfortable cozy environment. Great banquets! Good brunch.

Third and last visit.
We were seated at a table barely large enough for two, although we had reserved. Tables were so close that both our backs touched the diners behind us. Manager refused to change our table even though more comfortable ones had become available before our main course. The T-bone steak was not as high quality as on our prior visits. Busboy tried twice to clear our table while we were still eating. Nor were we too leislurely, as we were so uncomfortable. We were not offered a dessert menu, which we did not want anyway. They seemed to need our table for a larger group which had entered. Bill arrived with someone else's bar charges. Maybe they treat regulars differently, but, we have no intention of finding out.

mandate
Went about a week ago with a friend for our once a year steak get together and we could not be happier. The owner sat just the two of us in booth and given it was a Thursday night we were both pleasently surprised. The steak was well prepared as were our apps. Great room and great service capped off our night.

Good food but bad service
My wife and I arrived at Knickerbocker at 6:15 on a Wednesday. She ordered pork chops and I ordered a T-bone steak for one. We got our iceberg wedge within 10 minutes, but waited another hour for our main course. Finally, I spoke to the manager about the wait. He said it was coming out, but it took extra time, because the pork chopwas thick. A likely story. Finally when the pork chop came out, it needed to be cooked more. We sent it back. A few minutes later, the pork chop reappeared without the apple compote. We sent it back again. The third try, the compote was ice cold. Another try, and finally we were satisfied. The food was excellent, but the delay and the errors above made the experience less than perfect. Neverthess, we will return and hope that our experience will improve. Ralph Gansell

better home cooking at home
While Knickerbocker seems cozy and inviting; dont' be fooled. You will leave here unsatisfied and a little angry about your over-priced, yet very mediocre meal. The burger is average, the chicken is dry and the shrimp cocktail tastes like it's been in the fridge too long.

great for the price
Me and the wife went on the weekend during the day around 11-12 and found it to be very nice and service was great. They make you feel important. food was great and price good for what you get. I will be back.
