still one of the most beautiful and calming restaurants in the city. the staff are knowledgable and courteous. i ate there this weekend and had a wonderful meal. a lively , attractive youthful crowd. overall a very enjoyable experience. some sour grapes out there.

Kittichai has stopped trying. Over 6 months ago it used to have good food. I surmise: a) The chef has changed. b) The owners are looking to close the place and milk the cash cow as much as possible prior to then. That would explain the substandard ingredients and lack of interior upgrades.

Attentive service and a nice zen environment. Appetizers were the sashimi in a red pepper sauce and the scallops. There was only one scallop (not large) and we asked for another. The sashimi was 4 very small strips but the spices were amazing. Entrees were the chicken in the hot pot which was good but you have to like spicy and the chilean sea bass which was nicely done. The mixed vegetables were the side dish and the sorbet at the end was a nice finish. All in all a nice meal with eclectic tastes, but the portions are not worth the money.

We went here to celebrate my in-laws anniversary and were so unimpressed. Our waitress was rude, did not crack a smile and could not care less about us. We are frequent visitors of upscale restaurants and have never felt so disappointed in a well known establishment such as this one. The food was decent, but having such an obnoxious server totally ruined the entire experience. She made us feel as if she was doing us a favor by taking our orders! It was almost a joke! We are all awaiting a return phone call from the manager. Spend your $ elsewhere.

I was really excited about Kittichai...and realized after trying it that the decor is pretty much all it has going. Our reservation wasn't ready when we got there, the doorman was barely concerned with forcing us to wait or helping out with a round of drinks as we awaited our table...and this was after taking a 9:30 reservation when we had been hoping to eat at 8:00...so it was ridiculous they still couldnt have had the table ready. after we each paid 15 bucks a drink at the bar, magically the table was ready immediately. the waitress took forever to take our order, and the food was less than impressive. the thai beef salad was beat, the chocolate ribs were great, and the pork chop was hoping to be deemed mediocre. my friends had the scallop appetizer and organic chicken, claimed to be great, and the hot stone yellowfin tuna tartare appetizer and the whole fish entree both of which were subpar. Unless you're trying to impress a few golddigger women with buying them rounds of drinks in a cool atmosphere, for a place to eat, you'd be better off elsewhere.

Went for lunch, decor is great, food was decent. Glasses and utensils were stained. Were asked if we wanted rice to accompany our meal and we said no, but they brought out two orders of rice anyway and then charged us for them. It took a ridiculously long time for them to clear our empty plates, and then another ridiculously long time to bring the check, and since this is lunch during a weekday I had to get back to work, and then they brought the wrong check. Overall, eh.

My husband and I loved this place! Great food, great drinks, very cool atmosphere. You have to try the chocolate ribs- wow. My sea bass was delish too.
