    What's the fuss about?

I've lived in the neighborhood for a few years and keep trying Kitchenette because it is so popular. Every time, the food has been heavy and flavorless. I'm done falling for the hype.

    Take Out.. Pass

I live in the neighborhood, and have eaten here several times, always, the service is really poor, tried to use the take out delivery menu, and found that was even worse, the people on the phone are rude and abrupt, not helpful at all.. so it is a no win situation. The food is okay and a few things on the menu are exceptional, but come on people, we need to be treated well as a customer, not treated like a stampede of cattle, with the word NEXT printed on our shirts.

    just ok

A few people have recommended Kitchenette to me and it does seem quite popular as the place was practically full at lunchtime. But probably as a result, the service was really slow and the staff not very friendly. I had the Riverside chicken sandwich which was pretty good and a fairly large size. The chocolate cake, however, was not particularly good (not bad either, just ok) and was not worth $5.50.

    Really?

Went for brunch. The order was wrong; really wrong: eggs over easy and greasy when we ordered scrambled, wrong type of toast and burned, eggshell in the eggs(!), regular pancakes instead of the fruit ones which were ordered. The waiter put his thumb IN the pancakes. When we sent back the pancakes (normally wouldn't but c'mon they weren't what we ordered and it was totally gross!) They brought back the same regular pancakes (complete with thumbprint) with some fruit thrown on top and tried to pass them off as fresh (in like two seconds) - when I pointed out that they were the same ones and were not fruit-pancakes he admitted it! and said it would "take too long to make more."

    Adorable

I've eaten here several times over the years, both for lunch and dinner. The place is truly a delight. The prices are very fair for the quality of food you are getting, and the staff is friendly and tentative. The kitchen staff is always ready to modify a dish to your liking, and it is a very warm, welcome place. Honestly, one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. So cute!

    Almost

I have eaten here several times and must concur with other posters that the price is a bit too high relative to what is served. The dinner bill has been a shocker in the past. The desserts are generally quite good, though the smaller cakes and cupcakes are sometimes dry. Was really put off recently when I was told that baked goods are no longer delivered. In toto, I must say that Kitchenette, while occasionally a gem, isn't doing much to impress me these days.

    One of my favorite places

Home-cooked style food that is awesome. Deserts are particularly good. However, for the type of food that it is, it's about 25% too expensive. Also, the restaurant itself is kind of cramped. It's almost better just to get take out if you live in the neighborhood.
