Charming place, great food, very homey
I have been to Kitchenette three times in the past two days and have to say that I am in love. The food is great- everything is fresh and cooked perfect. Get the brioche french toast. It's amazing. And the turkey meatloaf. And the pea soup. The waitstaff is fine-- I don't get why people are complaining. This is not a 5-star restaurant, it's a diner-like place-- what do you expect? They are friendly and come back to check on you a ton and I have never had a problem.

Good eats....Good service
Well I have to say that when I walked into Kithenette this afternnon for brunch i expected to have a good meal but, bad service since that has been said repeatedly by other people on this site. However, I am here to say that I had a great time. the food was awesome. Try the Pear/Almond pancakes with scambled eggs and bacon. My waiter was really sweet and funny.I didn't wait long for a table or my meal. Treat yourself to some good country food with a twist.

Great food, poor service
I've never had a bad meal, and in fact many of the menu items are excellent. Great baked goods, satisfying egg dishes. The service, both in the restauarant and on the phone, is consistently poor. Long waits and bad attitudes are the norm - best of luck.

Hearty food! Why such bad reviews?
I don't understand all the negative reviews! Kitchenette always serve lovely food, yummy bread and fresh salad and veggies. Portions are always big. Service is fine - perhaps slightly spacey at the very worst. They went through some rough terrain after they moved to Chambers Street, but it seems like they are back on track. The only thing I personally don't care for is the decor of old-timey, small-town signage and farm equipment. When Kitchenette first opened 10 years ago, I thought it was a little pricey, but the food was delish. At that time, no one in the area was serving homemade, hearty, fresh American food the way they did. Now, no one is impressed anymore. Jeez, tough crowd. P.S. News flash - small restaurants in Manhattan can be cramped with tables very close together! Get over it.

It's just not that good
For a place to get breakfast, it wasn't such a great start to my day. Crowded, mediocre service, good food (the food here isn't the product of rocket science). But, nothing to write home about.

Not bad, but is it worth the hassle?
Despite the dangerously overcrowded tables at which no human being can comfortably sit, one still has to wait outside for a table, sometimes as much as an hour. What for? The food is rather above average, as are the baked goods, but between the service (when you get it), the noise, the wait, and the refusal to purchase comfortable chairs and tables, we stopped going.

Poor service, good food
Do NOT arrive with kids. We sat and ordered immediately, only to wait 25 minutes for our food. Not a good combination with two young ones anxious for breakfast. The eggs were good, but the bacon was fatty and certainly not worth the price. Our gentle complaints were not recognized. We will not be back.
