No longer recommended
To address the review just below this one... ...Kitaro has changed ownership an is no longer run by the same people and the entire staff has turned over. The best sushi value in NYC is no more - I don't recommend Kitaro anymore.

What happened?
I've ordered from Kitaro about 2 times a week for the past few months and have always loved the food, service, and price. However tonight, I called to place my regular order, and entered the twilight zone. The woman who answered the phone had never heard of a spicy tuna crunch roll, even though a) it's on the menu, and b) I've ordered it there about 25 times. When the food finally arrived, the order was all wrong: items that I didn't order, fishy smelling tuna, and a poor attempt at a spicy tuna crunch roll (why didn't they just read the menu?).

Best Naruto Roll I've had in NYC
I ate here with a friend last night, and I was definitely happy. Their Naruto roll was by far the most delicious I've had in New York-- and I've eaten that dish at least 20 other places. The sunrise roll was also very yummy! I can't wait to go back. Also an excellent value for the neighborhood, and the fish was really fresh!

Best affordable sushi on the UWS!
Tried out Kitaro after our neighborhood favorite closed. This is by far the most delicious, fresh, consistent sushi on the upper west side. Our favorites: shrimp shumai, shrimp avocado, tuna avocado, and the spicy tuna crunch roll. We've ordered from Kitaro about a dozen times, and have never been disappointed. Delivery is fast, too. Highly recommended!

Great sushi, great prices!
Went to Kitaro for the first time this weekend and LOVED it. Spicy tuna crunch roll is the best, and the shumai is delicious. Great value. Usually I'm scared of cheap sushi, but don't be fooled by the low prices. Very high quality and fresh fish.

This place is very good - fresh, reliable sushi at reasonable (for sushi) prices. Where we go for reliable sushi.

Kitaro is gud!
Eat here, this is the best japanese food ever. Yum, I eat a lot here than any restaurants in our country. Their food is perfect and delicious.
