Kismat Indian Restaurant
Posted by Pamela on 08/19/2013
I just ordered $25 worth of food, only a tiny portion of which was edible. The "chicken" dish was almost all mushy vegetables. The coconut soup had no flavor. It was shredded coconut and hot milk - blech. They included two sides, a lentil dish and cabbage. Both were gross and nobody wanted to eat them after one taste. My family loves Indian food and used to eat it a few times a week when we lived around more restaurants. This is my second time giving Kismet a try. It is my last.

I found Kismat a few years ago and have since become a devotee. I eat here at least once a week and always order enough to eat the next day. The food is always tasty and I love that everything can be adjusted to your spice-tolerance as opposed to other Indian restaurants which make everything too spicy to enjoy.

This place used to be the best. Was closed for a few weeks then reopened. Not sure if it's new ownership or what. But the food has definitely changed. I don't recommend.

I called in for a delivery. Service was prompt and courteous. Unfortunately the food has no taste! Very disappointing.

My husband and I order dinner from here about once a week and we're never disappointed. Some restaurants force you to practically scream your order into the phone because they're music is so loud, but Kismat is calm and quiet, you can place an order without having to repeat yourself over and over. I love that about ordering from Kismat. If dining in, the waitstaff is kind and friendly amid a very soothing atmosphere. I order saag matar paneer, a delicious vegetarian dish that mixes nicely with their fresh brown rice. My husband gets the chicken shish kebabs or the tandoori chicken, always moist and delectable. But best of all, their samosas (fried vegetable or beef dumplings) are AMAZING. There are so many Indian restaurants in this city, but Kismat's samosas are by far the best we had both ever tasted.

but it was awful bland. example the chicken was moist, but the flavoring was all wrong. It's almost like they ran out of Indian spices (At an Indian restaurant). Like someone who had never made indian food, made it for the first time, but forgot a page in the recipe. Granted, I generally like my indian food spicy (as I feel it should be unless otherwise specified) however my wife (Who likes her indian food bland) even mentioned it was far too bland for her. We ended up reheating the meal on the range and adding our own spices to the mix. Unless we hear of a new menu, or some sort of revamp, we won't order from here again, which is a shame since we love indian food, especially from a place that delivers.
