Kismat Indian Restaurant

Waitstaff was terrific but food was average. Too much garlic in my chicken kurma dish. I liked how they sliced the naan though and the vegetable samosa's were very good.

The food is always great if not exceptional, the service is very courteous and will accomodate requests for variations on their menu. and, if you order takeout, they send along lentil soup, pickled cabbage, and tasty sauces. eating in is a little like visiting a nice retirement home because of the decor, but once you have a bite of food in your mouth everything else is forgotten. very affordable, two people can eat for $25 easily.

I've only ordered take-out but it wasn't bad - like your typical Indian - similar quality to the Baluchi's chain. You get plenty of food for your money, delivery is free and fast, and the service is good.

It's good to know that there's such a good Indian food restaurant so close to home. Everytime I have out-of-town guest I always take them to Kismat and even they always say that the next time they come to New York they want to have dinner at Kismat. Their food is delicious, the service is great, the prices are very reasonable and best of all, they have free delivery to my side of Washington Heights (Wadsworth Avenue &192 ST.) This is definitely a place I would recommend to those who enjoy Indian food and to those who are trying for the first time. Try it, you'll like it!

I wonder if any of the other reviewers have eaten good Indian food... this place has the most mediocre Indian I have tasted in a long time. It has no competition in the hood and perhaps locals defend it because of some sense of hood loyalty

As a Washington Heights resident, I have to say that Kismat often saves the day. When I am really in the mood for going out to eat, but not in the mood for the regular crowd of latin fare, fried chicken and pizza, (or making a trek south) Kismat is the place. Great food, great service, good value. AND, Indian food in the neighborhood. I hope they never leave.

Suprised to find an Indian restaurant of such quality in the Dub Heights Area. I've eaten at several Indian restaurants "downtown" and I would say that this one's tied for the best.
