    amazing birthday dinner

Went to Kings Carriage House for the first time last night for my wife's birthday. The food was excellent, start to finish. 3 courses, all excellent... quail, trout, duck, lamb and a port/blue cheese dessert. All great, along with wine list and service. Great place.

    Great for a group!

We own a winery in Long Island, and our team was in town to pour for our distributor's clients. Where to take nine hungry and demanding wine professionals whose palettes can uncover a flaw in an '82 Ausone? KCH, of course. We were served in the luscious "Red Room", one of the most inviting dining rooms in Manhattan. The food was superb from start to finish (especially the Duck!), the service was very personal and efficient, and we all had a jolly time with Paul Farrell, the charming owner. Dinner for two at KCH is a romantic treaty, but don't forget when you have to entertain a crowd. The best!

    Great for an intimate Birthday

I don' have much to add to the reviews posted. The great reviews are all accurate and true....and that's also why i picked this restaurant for my Wife 42nd Bday. The only added bonus or treat i want to mention is that the menu was actually Named after my wife's name....so that certainly added a special impression and effect when she got the menu! Also amazing we did it on 8-07-09 Friday night....and we were the only guests that evening...so no pb the room is small and intimate and being served by the owner/waiter...we felt as if we had booked and entire Kitchen and Restaurant just of us! Always nice a perk usually for the rich and famous. Thierry Goyer

    Romantic and Elegant

This restaurant is somewhat nondescript from the street and you're hard pressed to find the sign bearing its name. Upon entering the first impression is that it's cramped and slightly 'rabbit-warren-ey.' But we were shown to the first floor back room dining area that was quite comfortable and romantic. We were there on a Saturday night during a severe thunderstorm. Unfortunately for the owners, the weather kept most diners at home and we shared the cozy room with only two other couples. Fortunately for us, it made for excellent service and a laughing camaraderie in the dining room every time thunder struck. The food was quite tasty with well cooked meat dishes served with tasty sauces and accompanied by good wine and a genial atmosphere. Apart from the trickiness of finding the place, it's frustrating that the restaurant's web site gives virtually no information, not even a menu. But what awaits is far better than what was expected. We'd like to have dinner there again, hopefully in better weather, and would definitely like to try the afternoon tea!

    A lovely place

Kings' Carriage House, now almost 15 years old, continues to be an anchor of charm and great food in the UES. Grilled Asparagus, Crispy Duck Breast, Halibut and Filet were nothing short of superb. Fantastic deserts. Limited but very well thought-out (and nicely priced) wine selection. Friendly, efficient service in the warm, welcoming and comfortable setting of a conuntry home. Topped off by the charm, and careful attention of Elizabeth and Paul. This is always a favorite spot to tuck into in the fall and winter months.

    One of a kind.

We had a small wedding dinner here after our ceremony and it worked out really, really well. They did a great job. We were in the "Hunt Room". We might have had to elope if we had not found this place!

    Fantastic!

Did Anonymous and Disappointed and Annoyed go to the same restaurant??? Oh and by the way Not Impressed - that's what crumbles supposed to be like. Lol you obviously have never had real English crumble before. I suggest you just stick with American food and not venture into the world of Irish/British food it can be an acquired taste and its not for the unadventurous! My husband and I went there for the first time last night and had one of the best meals i've had in Manhattan. The food was divine and the owner who was our server was so attentive - my glass never ran dry and he was very polite and courteous. I highly recommend this place. Its quaint, charming full of character with food to die for. Try the duck! And check out the rooms upstairs. Will definitely be going again.
