Best food in UWS,price and value
Despite noise and overcrowding the food is totally awesome,the staff is knowledgeable and very friendly.Don't add salt to your dish before you taste it :):):).Great value price - quality wise.

excellent Greek food
as a Greek, i feel i can rate this establishment's food-- delicious! prices are good for UWS. I also like the "twists" on some of the more traditional Greek dishes offered as specials. bravo!

This place has worn out its welcome
We enjoyed Kefi when it first opened on 79th Street -- yes, the tables were small and close together, but it was cozy, with reasonable prices for reasonably good food. We have eaten at their newer location many times because it is so close to our apartment, but finally said that our last visit would be our final one. The menu hasn't changed one bit since its opening, and that gets old. The food has deteriorated as well -- the "Greek" salad is not fresh or interesting -- I've had better at salad bars. The entrees are mediocre -- they all seem like cafeteria food now. Most of the waiters have been pleasant enough, but the place is so huge and frenzied . Nothing on the menu (both in terms of selection and preparation) merits that kind of bustle any longer.

AMAZING...and I live in Astoria
For apps, we ordered the 'Grilled Octopus and Bean Salad', the 'House-made Cypriot Sausage', and the 'Kefi Salad', which is made with heirloom tomatoes. DELISH!! The octopus was so tender and perfectly grilled, the sausage was well seasoned, and the salad was scrumptious. As entrees, we had the 'Crispy Cod' [normally an app], 'Sheep's Milk Dumplings', and the 'Grilled Branzino.' Everything was perfect! Our server was helpful and friendly. Honestly, coming from Astoria, I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was blown away! I will definitely be returning!

too salty
Second time I've tried it, but not coming back. Extremely salty, and even though we mentioned it, they don't seem to care. Too bad, because the recipes are good.

Not recommended
Based on recommendations, tried Kefi, hoping for a reasonably priced, REAL Greek place on UWS. This isn't it, unfortunately. The word "fusion" comes to mind. Pleasant atmosphere, especially in the heatwave, OK service, but ''etsi ketsi'' cooking.

Where do they find these people?
Food is fine, but the waitstaff really is horrendous. When our waiter took our order, first he acted like we were inconveniencing him and then he didn't write down our order (four things) and proceeded to forget the four things we'd just said. Also, outrageously noisy. Food is pretty good, but comes at a price.
