    Athene on the Hudson

I travel to Greece quite often and the food at Kefi is as good as the one found in Athene's best tavernas. In addition the service is quite professional and they have great wines at very reasonables prices. I sure had to wait for a table as well, but a couple of glasses of retsina at the attractive bar made the wait very enjoyable.

    Overrated

Basically, Kefi is overrated, and now overcrowded, they don't take reservations and I waited over 45 min. for a table I was assured would be ready in half that time. The food was over-salted and way too garlicky to enjoy. The prices are reasonable, but the portions are small to match. Redeeming factors are attentive wait staff and a better-than-baklava-like dessert.

    Helter Skelter Hellenic

Wonderful reasonably priced food. No $50 grilled fresh fish but every dish offered was tasty and impeccably prepared. Very professionally run by seasoned restaurateur, but this place is scarily overpacked in the back room through the narrow corridor. I hope they tweak it a bit because this is one of the best on the Upper West Side -- unpretentious and delivers exactly what it promises. Start off with the $10 split of Retsina with the meze plate for 2. You won't find it better executed.

    Opa!

My partner and I live a few blocks from here and were sad to see Onera close. But tonight's meal at Kefi was a pleasure. Everything was delicious (including the octopus, sweetbreads, and feta apps, branzino, and the walnut cake for dessert). As a Greek American, who is often disappointed by most of the "Greek" fare in town, do not hesitate to to go to Kefi. And the prices are so reasonable that the cash only rule is easy on the wallet. Kali Orexi, as the Greeks would say!

    Great addition to the neighborhood!

Had a great dinner here. Great for kids. We would definitly go back and have the pork souvlaki again!

    Treasure found

Got a table for 2 right away at 7:30 on a Friday, but it soon filled up completely and there was a wait when we left. Very convivial atmosphere, though a bit tight and couples tables are the tiniest I've ever seen. Wait staff very friendly, efficient, and attentive despite the mayhem. Food was simply great. Mussels appetizer in particular was transcendant. Can't wait to go again and sample more.

Tasty fresh food at reasonable prices

My wife and I ate here last week to celebrate Valentine's Day. The ambience is very nice, the service professional and courteous, the food excellent. We had Octopus as an appetizer, Moussaka and Branzino as entrees. The seafood dishes were particularly fresh and well prepared. A wonderful new addition to this neighborhood.
