Classic old school meat house
Keens is the prototype old-school steakhouse. Dark mahogany wood everywhere that's been there for over a century (and looks it), business-types on company accounts, classic steakhouse menu, not cheap. I got the t-bone with mashed and mushrooms for sides and was very happy. Add a couple of well-made martinis to the mix and I was even happier. Go and enjoy, but be prepared to spend some dough.

New York dining at its finest
When thinking about where to go for my birthday dinner, i remembered Keen's from an episode of anthony bourdain. Thinking tony knows his stuff, we made our reservation. We were seated in the bull moose room, adorned with a moose head, portraits of teddy roosevelt, and the famous pipes. My family and i all loved our starters and entrees. My father ordered a deliocious ceasar salad, my mother and sister split a wonderful order of actually jumbo shrimp, and my crab cakes were phenomenial! When the entrees arrived, i was partially shocked at their size. My prime rib was the size of my head, while my mother and sister's mutton was maybe too much for them. The creamed spinach was amazing, having all the creaminess while still having that spinach taste. We almost couldn't fit dessert, but thank god we order the cheesecake. Out of this world. I hope this restaurant never closes, for it is my new favorite place.

Best Steakhouse in manhattan
Love the food and service at this place.Last time I ate at the pub area.Tried the small size Mutton for first time and it was excellent. Also had the Oysters(Hammock) and they were excellent to.Even the Keens beer IPA was pretty good.Place was packed and I was lucky to get a seat at the bar.The other great thing about this restaurant is it has a great atmosphere like a old time steakhouse.

Completely average
Keens defines average. Let's go piece by piece. Salads - decent, but definitely better at the Palm. Steaks - totally average, way better at Wolfgang's, Luger's or Ben Benson's. Sides - average, way better at Quality Meats and even some non-steakhouses. Drinks / bartender - very poor. Bartenders here are slow, and pour a much smaller scotch / cognac than at any other steakhouse. Service was hit and miss. Prices are right down the fairway. On the whole you won't hate Keens, but it certainly doesn't leave any lasting positive impressions.

Disappointed this time
My husband and I were looking forward to our dinner at Keens on our annual trip to NYC, as we had such an excellent meal last year. Each of our steaks were over cooked. The waiter indifferent. There was nothing special about the meal this time, except for the price. $250 for a mediocre steak dinner for two? Not worth it.

Its a Wonderful Meal
I made reservations for a friend and myself for our annual Christmas dinner together. So glad we did because this place is definitely busy! We were led to our table, through a dimly-lit, cozy dining room, with a ceiling filled with pipes (part of the restaurant's history). We selected a nice wine from a very extensive list, and proceeded to dine on surf and turf. The lobster was succulent, cooked to perfection without being over cooked. As good as the lobster was, the filet mignon was even better - wonderful flavor and texture, cooked to a perfect medium (the way I like it!). We both agreed to forgo appetizers so that we would have room for dessert, and I am so glad we did. The key lime pie was one of the best I've had since I was in Florida. My friend quite enjoyed the chocolate cake, which had mousse in between the layers of cake. We were so full that we hardly realized how long we had been there! The waiter was helpful and gracious without being too intrusive or trying to rush us, which we appreciated since we had a lot of catching up to do! In such a busy restaurant during such a busy season, it's nice to know that places like this exist! We will definitely be back.

not good
Took a big client to lunch last week 11/ 18 2pm...Got apps quickly...then proceeded to wait 45 ++ minutes for lunch / burgers and salads...Waiter never came over to table to update us ??? We asked for our lunch ''TO GO"....Proceeded to leave with large brown paper bags with cold lunchs ...Bill came to $75 plus i added a 20% tip for bad service ?..The place is an institution in the garment industry but not that day.....Get it together ...
