if your patience is bigger than your appitite
its the type of place where the owners believe the taste of the food is the only important thing to consider. Service does not seem to be on their agenda. I figured if I just went with delivery I could skip all the attitude....but they put someone on the phone that doesn't speaks English I had to call them to find out they took my address wrong. they did resend the order but it did take 2 hours to get my food. and as long as I got my order they see no problem

Great Food!
This place has fantastic food! Every time I'm in the East Village, I try to stop in here. As far as I can tell, it's a rotating menu, and similar but somewhat different every day. No matter how much I get, I never get enough. It's a cafeteria-style setup, so you don't go for the service, but this is a refreshing alternative; sometimes you want to eat great food, but need a faster/ more casual setup. Everyone here has always been very polite.

great food, not so good service
I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was, and unpleasantly surprised by how poor the service was. The person taking our order was angry at the fact that we took some time deciding and took a long time to make our food even though people who ordered similar things got their food way before us. the restaurant environment itself is nothing to die for but it's not bad. They have a nice TV set up showing soccer most of the time. But the food was really good (I got the chicken adana) and it wasn't that expensive, which is always nice.

Great Food
The Adana kebabs were excellent and spiced nicely. The turkish bread was served warm. For $9 the platters are well worth it. This is my new favorite east village kebab restaurant!

Best Lamb Kebab/Gyro in The East Village
I have always loved a good gyro. not the crappy generic ones that are mystery meat and lard, but the real deal ones that are made with care in house. I know of a couple of places on the west side that have good ones. This place has the only Real gyros in the East Village. They also have this amazing turkish bread that they put them on. The steam table food is a good value. Expect to pay around 10 bucks for a nice sized plate and a soda. I love this place. It's a reliable, yummy hot fresh meal any time.
