I don't know what everyone has against this place. All the food is excellent. So is the atmosphere. The service is okay, but you don't have to sit in the waiter section. It seems people have problems with the specialties, but in my opinion and experience they are excellent. As a New York native it makes me sad that it is now a tourist trap, but it is still good.

I am 62. I have not had a Egg Cream since I was 17yrs old, when I lived in the city .I was so disappointed with the egg cream. It did not taste the same.My sister and friend said the same thing, the service was fantastic, and they were so nice to us,telling us they do make it diffferent. But the food was fantastic,I felt so at home ,i could rememebr me and my family as a young girl in your deli. God bless you guys for keeping this wonderful place and memory for people still going.I want to make another trip, would love to make you guys the real egg cream when I visit next.

Okay I've loved the food forever. But the service, atmosphere, etc is what it is... Today I tried to order delivery, which they only offer until 2pm, and they now require an $80 minimum? Katz you just lost my business - about a grand or more a year between me and my out if town guests that loved you too.

Service was standard and clearly intended for cranking out the customers. Atmosphere felt like a cafeteria. Food was sooo overrated. They have nothing on Detroit's Reubens and Russian dressing! Chopped liver was oddly chunky too. Not worth the time or $.

So, I'm 16 and received my first pay check a couple weeks ago. I think, why not head over to what is claimed to be 'New York's best deli'. I grab a couple friends and go, with 40 bucks in my pocket and an empty stomach. Disappointing. That's Katz's in a nutshell. I lost my paper thing and the cashier tried to make me pay 50 bucks. I refused to pay one the grounds that, 1. I didn't even have fifty dollars with me and 2. What the hell. I lose a piece of scrap paper and should automatically pay two months of cell phone service? I would pay 50 dollars for a lost textbook in school, because those things are actual useful, expensive and not completely irrelevant; not for a piece of paper. So, I refused to pay and the cashier got mad at me and I gave her a kayne shrug and walked away. The food sort of sucks. I understand, yes, I'm young, I obviously have not obtained the fine dining experiences to accurately state that the food is unappetizing.. I got the 'world famous' pastrami and it was so dry and tasteless. The fries were greasy and soggy and so nasty.
