    What happened?!

Kate's was definitely my favorite place to eat in the LES and would even take my non-veggie friends to eat there because the food used to be great. Lately, the food has gone down in taste a lot. Mashed potatos are good. So is the veggie burger (original) and the buffalo wings, but not impressed with anything else really. And the bartender did not provide great service. I asked him two times for a beer. The first time he ignored me, the second time he said "fine" and then just never brought me one. My friend ended up just ordering two beers and had to give me one. ?!!!? I miss how it used to be

    Vegans- Great hot breakfast!

We ate here this morning and thought the food was great. We are vegans here on vacation here from Iowa and Kate's was the only place we in NYC we could find a good, hot breakfast like we make at home. The Huevos Rancheros breakfast was awesome- scrambled tofu with pototoes, salsa, lettuce. Good stuff. Non Vegan daughter got the same thing with real organic egg and non vegan cheese. We liked that both vegan and non vegan options were available in one location. We'd been eating bagels with tofu cream cheese all week and were so happy to find a nice, hot breakfast finally, on our last day in NYC. NYC vegan restaurants are seriously lacking a hot vegan breakfast. Service was great, very friendly waitress- even took the time to tell us how the french toast was prepared, as we were curious so we could make it at home. Yes, the place could use a good deep cleaning, but it wasn't overcrowded, we weren't rushed, and we would rather have a great vegan meal in a less than spic and span place than a crappy meal in a tidy place. Thanks, Kate's!

go to teany's or atlas instead

i called tonite and was given the worst service ever. a girl named reagan hung up the phone on me 3xs. they took my order, an hour later the delivery guy calls me, i buzz him in, he never shows up, and i call to inform them this. half an hour later i call again and "reagan" tells me that i already informed her. and then she tells me, oh wait - we don't deliver to you. i've had it with this place and their overpriced subpar food. the only reason i ordered tonite was because teany's doesn't deliver and i had atlas yesterday.

    Amazing

The food was amazing. The waiter was great as well. The place could have been slightly more clean, but nothing that would prevent me from coming again. Their buffalo chicken wings are more than memorable.

What the heck happend to this place?

Kate's was always a go-to place: great variety, big menu, tasty vegan food, laid back vibe a great brunch place. Our visit there is a testament that this time has passed. went in to some curse-laden music, and the food was not great. Instead of their usual huge quirky menu, I was handed a one page list of brunch choices, and nothing that we had was that appetizing.
