Spend my Sundays here
I absolutely love Kate's, especially the Sunday afternoon drink specials and the McKate Veggie Burger, although all of the food is truly delicious. Totally recommend it to anyone regardless of if they’re vegan (like me), veg, or a carnivore (like most of my friends who join me).

Who Knew?
Although dubious because this place doesn't make most vegetarian restaurant lists online, and upon first glance this place looks like a bar whose food would be mediocre, the meal was really terrific. The appetizer tasting plate and IPA-esque brew from Chelsea Brewery were a great way to start the meal. My Tofu Francese was good and my companion's Meatless Loaf even better. The prices don't necessarily reflect what you'd expect to pay with the location and ambiance, but I still left very happy.

For Vegetarians or Meat Lovers
My wife and I came here after seeing a burger review. It took us 20 minutes to realize that everything was veg. We have been back at least 10 times since then and neither one of us is a vegetarian in any sense of the word. The taco salad is amazing, ask for extra tortilla chips, it is worth it for sure!

Its back
I had been to Kate's awhile ago and although the food was great and exactly what i felt like, the service was shabby. However I revisited this old haunt the other day and it seems there is a new breed of service, with personality and humor. After reading some of the reviews that are as old as the times I used to eat here, I would have agreed. But they are old, and outdated. This place once again rocks. Even for those who are carnivorous.

'Excellent!'
We found 'Kate's Joint', online, in Ireland, before our 'big' New York trip. Our server, FRANK was wonderful. Food was yummy (thanks to the chef/cook) & well priced. Everything was super fresh. We can't fault anything. It was a hot day, so, we had a shandy each, (done with freshly made lemonade, the lemons squeezed that morning (thanks again Frank). Hope to go back, next year, it was THAT good!

Great Veggie Bar Food And I'm No Vegetarian
I've been here twice. Once, I wandered in randomly for a drink and ended up having an hour long conversation with the bartender about the music he was playing via his iPod. (A lot of obscure 60s and 70s rock.) The second time, I ate there and had an incredibly delicious "buffalo burger"--actually, it was a vegan buffalo "chicken" sandwich. Amazingly good. I'm not a vegetarian, but I do eat vegetarian occasionally, though I tend to avoid meat-shaped veggie foods when I do (it's unnecessary). The food was excellent and the service was great. It seems to be a bit of a dive, i.e. there weren't many people in there, but it was 6pm, so I'm sure it gets a bit more lively later on. Overall, a nice place to eat and drink. For vegan bar food, this place hits the spot.

ran my card for $3.08
ok, i like some vegan junk food. and the service was not so bad. the atmosphere, however, was really uninviting and seemed rather dead. i also am not sure about having to listen to bob dylan while trying to enjoy a meal, just not very hip in my oppinion. what really gets me is that i left a cash tip, crossed out the tip line on the receipt, yet someone ran my card for an additional $3.08.
