    wonderful evening!

my husband and i found this charming restaurant when looking for a restaurant near broadway and 55th. After reading the reviews on this site, we decided to give it try. we arrived at 7:30 p.m. on a saturday night and we were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. the tables are very close together, but after we were seated, we barely noticed the fellow diners. We ordered two sampler plates to share along with a couple glasses of wine. Although the plates were small, the servings were very filling, especially when you ate the wonderful bread that was served with it. The waiter did not come by often, but that was okay with us. We did not feel rushed even though there were a few groups waiting for tables. We wanted to stop by the store up front to bring food home (it was that good!) but we were going out afterwards and didn't have anywhere to put it. We cannot wait to go back and get some tapas to bring home and enjoy! If you are in the area, you should definitely check it out!

    Fabulous!

My boyfriend and I visited Kashkaval whilst on holiday in New York, and it was one of the highlights of our visit! The cheese fondue's were amazing! Maybe we visited at a quieter time, but we had no problems with the service. We had a relaxed and romantic meal, with excellent food and good wine. I would recommend this place to cheese lovers everywhere!

    Great Find in Busy uptown

This place was just so great! I'm originally from the West Coast, so it brought me back to the Cheese & Wine establishments back home. It was very quaint, laid-back, and the food was REALLY good! The Mediterranean tapas were delicious, and there were so many to choose from. I can't wait to go back and try more variations from the tapas menu. The wine was cheap, and also very good. The entree menu isn't extensive, but who needs that when you're going to a wine & cheese market? Easy, laid back, and not at all a New York vibe (which was nice). If you can, check out this place! For those who complained about the service - - the place isn't supposed to be a typical restaurant who turns over hundreds of diners a night. This is a place you go to relax, have some wine, and eat great food.

    Disappointing

So after clicking on menupages and finding a delivery menu, we got together a group of orders from my office and called to place the order. They informed us they don't deliver and that we would have to pick up. They also wouldn't take our order over the phone- we'd have to request it at the store. So basically, ignore the "delivery menu" because unless the people currently answering the phone are oblivious, there is no delivery from Kashkaval. Considering that we were about to place a $200-plus order, it strikes me as outright stupidity that they would reject the opportunity to sell that much food by forcing us to do it in person and wait in the store while they prepare it. We simply took our business elsewhere. My desire to order from Kashkaval in the first place sprang from an earlier dine-in visit, where the food was awesome but the service reminiscent of other reviews seen on Menupages. I was parched, but had to wait 10 minutes after being seated for water, which was not refilled. Service was aloof and non-existent but the food was indeed delicious. It's a shame. The food is so tasty but the management and staff are so brusque and impolite it almost begs to be boycotted in principle.

    So glad I found you....

Your online menu intrigued me so I had to stop in on this lovely Saturday afternoon. Your wine list is generous and solid. My choice, the Chilean Sauvignon Blanc paired perfectly with our menu choices of kashkaval cheese fondue with baguette chunks, cheese and meat plate, medium cold tapas platter (the artichoke dip, bean salad and russian salad were wonderful.) The service was slightly lacking , the waitress was knowledgeable but aloof and never returned to ask us if we were happy with our choices, and she forgot to bring part of our order but we were sated and didn't require it anyway so it wasn't a total loss. I'll have to have that Spanish Panini when I return as I felt so comfortable in the quaint, relaxed surroundings of Kashkaval. The not so perfect service did not take away from the wonderful wine or the tasty food which was reasonably priced except for the meat plate which I believe was overpriced and lacking in quantity, though not in quality. Perhaps next time, I'll get a 1/2lb of each to go and enjoy it at home with a chilled bottle of Fume blanc. I will see you again very soon Kashkaval. I definitely recommend this little find.

    Amazing!

I went there with a friend the other night and it was amazing. I had never been. We split a bottle of wine, apps, and cheese fondue with veggies and bread and the bill was $50 for two people, with the wine... very cheap for dinner with drinks! I recomend the cheese fondue with veggies and bread, it was soooo yummy! I can't wait to go back! Perfect for a 1st date!

    Perfect

This lil spot is sweet and amazing! The tapas are fresh and just wonderful! I highly recommened the artichoke dip, white bean salad, hummus, and olive tapanade. All are very flavorful. A small tapas plate will fill up two, large plate three. You can also order their wonderous food for take out!
