    wonderful flavors

Thank you menupages reviewers. You didn't steer us wrong. Just had a very flavorful meal at Karahi's. Tonight we discovered that food doesn't have to be spicy hot to be wonderfully spiced. Wait staff was very attentive and unobtrusive. We dined in January and the restaurant was a little chilly, but the bottle of wine took care of that. Great value, very filling, even with the wine. Met a couple there who lives on the same street who raved about the restaurant and the variety of ethnic restaurants in the neighborhood. Great find when in the mood for flavor and something different. Will come again.

    Best kept secret

Great food and service at a very reasonable price . Small size masks it's hidden treasure.

    Love it!

Yes, agree with the previous reviews, simply the best Indian food in NY! I haven:t been able to find better Chicken tikka masala in Manhattan and just keep going back to West Village.

I agree, best Indian I've found in NYC - and I've searched

Quite a number of years ago, I spent time in India and Pakistan and grew to love the cuisine - both in homes and restaurants. Karahi is one of the few restaurants I've found that truly matches the flavors of authentic Indian cooking. Happily it is near our home. We both visit the restaurant and order in. It is our first choice when we're entertaining guests - and when they visit again they request another meal from Karahi. The same for our children when they visit home - it is their first and frequent choice. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, the food and service excellent. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

    Best Indian food in NYC

So I have been to India...I have eaten in Jackson heights! I was just walking by this place one day, hungry, and decided to stop in....I ordered the veg samosa, saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, naan, and chai tea. WOW!!! The food is SO delicious it brought me to tears in my eyes. All the flavors, aromatic spices, tenderness, and freshness brought me right back to being in India and all the delicious food I had there. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants in the US and it's usually subpar! Usually, most places use too much chilli powder and all you taste is "hot". Not true with here! You taste all the spices and the herbs and its not just a hot taste in your mouth, but rather a blend of beautiful flavors! At most places, the rice is oily and greasy. Not true here! The rice here is so fluffy and fresh, and not oily at all. At most places the saag paneer is gross, with mushed up spinach and crappy cheese! Not true here! The spinach is awesome, and the cheese cubes are like little treasures, so tender and delicious! The vegetable samosa here is so crisp on the outside, not over cooked, and delicious with potatoes, peas, and cilantro on the inside mildly flavored! The dipping sauces are so fresh, you can tell they are made on site--the cilantro is crushed up and the tamarind sauce has just the right bite to it! Delicious! The chicken tikka masala is out of this world! To end, I want to say that I went home and told my boyfriend about this place. He HATES Indian food. I carried around Karahi's card in my wallet for 2 years!!! I kept saying, no I need to take you to this place. Finally, one day, he decided to go. Again, we ordered the same thing I had before--he was blown away! He now LOVES Indian food because of this restaurant!! And he asks me if we can go there! We both love Karahi!!! Incredibly delicious Indian. He even says he wants to take his dad (who hates Indian food) to this restaurant. This restaurant will make anyone a believer. I cannot stress how wonderful it is! Oh and the chai tea, wow!!! Homemade, just like I had in India and Nepal! Wonderful! Cheers!
