Solid Hell's Kitchen Chinese Takeout
This small takeout-focused restaurant is vastly superior to others in the area and in general, a solid Chinese option. Their crab rangoons are wonderful, practically addictive! To address some other reviewers comments about the family who runs the restaurant; one, seeemed to suggest child labor, which is both inaccurate and inappropriate. It's a family run place which is nice to see in these chain restaurant laden times. The service is friendly and quick.

Quick and tasty
Felt compelled to write a review. This is your quintessential greasy spoon take out Chinese spot. You don't go there to dine, you call/go in for super fast delivery or take out. A young family owns the place and it's not uncommon for their 7 year old daughter to take your order. They do a brisk business and the food is fresh, basic, fast and cheap.

ugh
As far as chinese food in NYC, its passable. There are much better small chinese fast food restaurants around, each with their own "specialities". If your going to give your patronage to a restaurant, the very least they could be is thankful or appreciative to the customer... Save yourself the aggravation, with all the great little chinese restaurants in the neighborhood you won't miss Kam Wei.

Poorest customer service I have ever witnessed!
I have ordered from this place a few times and never had a problem. The food is always good until the last few orders I have made. Today I had called and ordered 4 wings with pork fried rice. When it is delivered 40 minutes later I open the container and the food is hot but the wings are very dry and had little to no meat on them. I called the place and spoke to the woman and asked her nicely to replace the wings. She did not believe me that the wings were in the shape that I had claimed they were in and I told her it would be no problem for me to send them back to her. She then asked me if I wanted to change my order so I asked for another item that is a dollar more. She refused and instead of complaining of the inconvenience and how I felt that I had the right to this request I asked if she could just send new wings. She very rudely demanded that I must send the wings back (after I told her that I was very willing to do so) and that I had a problem. She then hung up on me. I called back and asked nicely to be refunded and they can come pick up the food. She started to yell at me and hung up. I called a third time and asked to speak to a manager, and to my amazement she was the manager! I’m sorry but I have been in the food business before and there is no reason to treat a customer this way. I can only imagine how this woman treats the rude customers.

really good food really good price
So many places look just like this or even look nicer. This place is not for atmosphere - it's take out. But it's the best Chinese food in the neighborhood and has been for years. On the menu are all the usual suspects but things aren't greasy and don't all taste the same. They use a lot of different vegetables in dishes, not jut the usual broccoli and carrots. They are also good about special orders. The large size portions last me for 2 meals and I'm a big eater.

Not 4 deliv - waited more than 1 hr
ordered 2 dishes from all of 5 blocks away. took them 1 hr and 12 minutes to deliver it. they were very apologetic, etc... when it arrived, even though the person on the phone had asked what type of rice I wanted, the rice was not there at all. so, order from these people if you want to: 1) eat dinner in an hour and a half or so, and 2) pay for food that isn't delivered even after that wait
