Way overpriced
I was there for brunch a few weeks ago and they were charging $12 (!!) for a not-that-large bowl of squash soup. I wanted to ask the waitress if that came with a lap dace. Overall, food was good but not worth the ripoff prices.

Scrumptious & Sweet, best Vegetarian Platter Ever
This is one of our favorite brunch spots in Park Slope - all local, organic ingredients beautifully cared for. Their personable, young chef, lovely waitstaff, warm, funky atmosphere, and really special food is always a pleasure. It's high quality cuisine with a low key vibe. However, they do not advertise their vegetarian dinner option on the menu, we had to find out from the chef. And we are sooo glad we did. This was the most sophisticated, flavorful, fresh, and handmade vegetarian plate - it was huge and arrived beautifully arranged on a raised wooden board. Order the plate off the menu - it changes nightly - even hourly - according to the chef's whims and the freshest ingredients available. This sweet little spot will quickly become your favorite - it's ours!

Our favorite neighborhood spot!
My wife and I have been here a few times, for both brunch and dinner. The food has been really outstanding each time - simple, yet wonderfully prepared. They take pride in using local, seasonal ingredients and they do it well. A weak dessert offering is the only thing holding me back from a perfect 5. Not sure why some other reviewers have had neg service experiences, but ours have generally been great. Very attentive staff, and always willing to ask the chef about an ingredient. They even made up a fabulous hot chocolate, right on the spot, when I didn't see it on the menu but had a brunch craving. Prices are reasonable, especially given the quality of the food and service. The atmosphere is nice - simple and relaxed. There is nothing pretentious about plain hardwood floors and basic tables and chairs - but they make it feel welcoming with great lighting.

Horrible disappointing experience
We had a really disappointing experience. The service was not good and the food just so so. The $9 bread basket was just a basket of sliced bread - what happen to the delicious scones and biscuits?? And what is up with this new expensive french press coffee - what happen to the delicious simple cup of Stumptown?? We received the coffee without mugs, cream or sugar; we didn't receive the water until we were almost done eating and the waitress passed us around 12 times before bringing our check. Unfortunately, we won't be back.

Quality ingredients
Nice atmosphere, tables not squished on top of one another. Excellent service. Really high quality food and nice presentation. We'd had brunch at Stonepark the day before, the quality in the two restaurants was equal but Fresh setting was better (less noisy, less crowded), zero attitude. For how good it is I was surprised it wasn't more crowded. I'm definitely going back. Try it.

i wanted to like it...
We went in for brunch and it was lovely - the food was great. Service was terrible, but I find that to be not unusual during brunch wherever you go. After enjoying the brunch food, i was excited to try dinner. Unfortunately, the service was so terrible, we left after our appetizers - which were great, but it wasn't worth it to stay. I love that the food is local and organic and we go out of our way to support restaurants who offer that - and while the waitstaff was sweet, they were clueless. major disappointment. and we won't be back.

Hit or Miss?
I was walking in the Slope last week, trying to convince my B/F that a nice, quiet dinner was in order and we stumbled across GFT&M. I had heard mixed reviews, but it looked nice inside so we went in. Immediately we were treated with excellent service. It had just rained, so the patio was wet, but we got a nice corner table by the back. Our waitress was enthusiastic and attentive. Unfortunately, the food did not quite live up to her descriptions. The pickled mussels were insane, but the farmer's cheese and tomatoes was lacking seasoning and well, luster. The tofu with edamame puree was sub-par but a good proportion. The bread pudding was fantastic but so teeny-weeny it left we wanting more. Oh yeah, and definitely get that bread basket (the raisin/nut bread is worth it!). The real, real bummer here though was the mosquitoes!! I realize we were sitting close to the door and it had just rained, but I literally had to put my feet on the bench and cover them with my jacket!! So if you count out some so-so appetizers, tiny dessert proportions and mosquitoes, I think you'd have a pretty good experience. Good luck future patrons!! (and bring some bug spray!!)
