    A neighborhood gem!

So happy I found the Jones Wood Foundry by accident. It's a hidden gem. The dining room is warm and comfy with food to match. Really tasty British comfort food. The restaurant has interesting pre-war ceilings which gives the main room a really comfortable feel. The food was great. We started with the Kedgeree which was a pleasant surprise with a hint of Indian spice. We had the corned beef hash and a lentil dish with eggs and light spices. Everything was great, and then the dessert came a caramel banana torte which was to die for. If you are looking for a comfortable dining spot you have found your place.

    UES Gem

In a neighborhood bereft of cool, low-key restaurants with tasty food, this place definitely stands out. Lovely drink selection (incl. some pricey, but delish wine cocktails) and very delicious food. Love, love the toast menu (specifically the pork rilletes, salt cod mash, and smoked mackerel pate), it's perfect for a casual bite with your beer. Haddock and chips are to die for (super potato-y potatoes and perfectly fried fish)! Bangers and mash, while a bit heavy, were dangerously delicious.

    I Worked Here

I use to work here, and it did and still does rank amongst my favorite restaurants in the city. Its well designed and decorated. You feel at home. Service is kind and joyful. More importantly, the food is amazing. I am a food lover, and I crave something from the menu on a daily basis. Seeing as how I worked there, I can vouch for the cleanliness of the kitchen. Something I had never encountered at other restaurant jobs. So I have no problem going back. FOOD: The meat pies will make you drool for the rest of your life- my favorite is the Lamb & Rosemary, but Steak & Kidney is also exceptional. Dont shy away from it because its meat...in a pie. On the toast menu go for the Pear & Blue cheese, they poach the pears themselves, they're rather addicting. I also recommend the Potted Crab. For dessert, get the sticky toffee pudding. I didn't even like sticky toffee pudding till I worked here. Only down side is that their air conditioners are up to the place when busy, so during rush hours in summer it can be rather hot. But hey, at least you'll be sitting down with cold beers as opposed to running back and forth serving them. ;) Dont be afraid to try anything here. Except maybe the Marmite....

Lovely Pub with light food options as well

Had a terrific meal, and since I wasn't that hungry, decided to have the trout. I was delighted to find that it was light, not heavily or richly sauced. Friends had burger -- rated highly -- and the dourade, which also got high marks. We shared the trifle and the milk chocolate and sea salt tart, both of which were really great, with the tart slightly the winner. The service was friendly and the room was very nice. Will be going back, and especially good for anyone who lives in the nabe.

    Surprisingly good fare

One wonders what "Modern British Cuisine" might portend. In this case it puts to rest the expectation that the meal one is served will be overcooked and underspiced. The fare at Jones Wood Foundry is imaginative, of high quality and above all tasty. Duck is actually moist and properly seasoned. Spinach is cooked just right and very tasty. And potatoes with root vegetables actually are as advertised and in a combination that makes diners clean their plates. All this comes in an attractive venue and with a waitstaff that is courteous and well informed. The chef clearly knows his stuff and shows that he cares. CH

    Surprisingly delish British fare

Great looking place, welcoming staff, nice beer/wine list and who knew "traditional" British food could be rendered so delicious and inventive. Been here several times for brunch and dinner and have not been disappointed. Plus, can't quite figure out why, but the typically annoying UES crew apparently haven't discovered this place yet. Here's hoping they don't. Cheers.

    Pretty bartenders & high prices

$9 for a 14 oz. draft is all you really need to know. They do not have liquor so you have to drink beer or wine and it is pricey. The male bartenders are handsome but spend most of their time flirting with the girls. Food is tasty but pricey as well. Not quite good enough to put in a regular rotation.
