    Taste the experience of Senegal

This was where my boyfriend took me on our first date. It was a pleasant experience having West African cuisine for the very first time. My boyfriend is a veggie head and I'm always willing to try something different so I suggested that he order us the same dish. He ordered the veggie patties as an appetizer topped with a tangy sauce which I loved and the entree was an assortment of steamed veggies, rice, and a nicely seasoned spicy gravy. I had a ginger drink that cleanse the palate upon every sip but was indeed refreshing. To top it off the ambience with sounds of African music, art, and the warm lighting was relaxing. I recommend to anyone curious enough to venture into African cuisine.

    Superb Dishes!

I've been eating at Joloff's for several years and always recommend it for the great taste, especially the Joloff Chicken, Joloff Rice, and Joloff Cocktail (ginger and sorrel)

    Total Embarrassment

I decided to celebrate my birthday with my friends/family at Joloff. Three years ago I went to Joloff for dinner and was deliciously pleased with the Thibou Djen and Yassa Map. Total no brainer for my birthday! I was so confident about my choice all of us ate nothing for the entire day. Needless to say when the food came, we dove right in. Much to my dismay, and embarrassment, the food was totally inedible! My fish was bland the joloff rice was mushy, and tasted more like cardboard then cardboard itself. My sister who is picky eater refused to eat the tomato, and onion mush placed in front of her. The only dish that we all enjoyed was the friend plantains. There is nothing I hate more then spending money on terrible food, and having my friends spend their money on food that I recommended. I heard that Joff fell off. I’m sorry to see it, but they have.

    Not worth it.

I just got back from eating thiebou diene at Joloff Restaurant and I must say it was a huge disappointment, not worth the drive from Manhattan. While the staff was nice and the ambiance comfortable the food was sub-par. I was there with a couple of friends from Senegal and the verdict was that the food had no flavor, neither the fish nor the rice the places I have visited in Harlem are orders of magnitude better.

    Amazing

I have gone to this resturant for both Brunch and dinner and have had amazing meals. At brunch I had the baked eggs and for dinner I had chicken. Very tasty and very good service. The outside patio is adorable as well.

    Stop it.. I want more.

This is actualy one of my favourite restaurants in the neighborhood. I was skeptical at first about eathing there but the warmth felt upon first entering made me very confortable. I had the lemon chicken with brown rice and salad. Can I get a llittle more? The food was delicious and the sorrel is a must have. The place has recently underdone renoavtions and looks ten times better. The Afrikan artwork and music in the background makes it very hard to doubt that you are in Senegal. Do your self a favour and come get justice served to your mouth!
