Not recommended if you want authenticity. The fact that they cannot even do General Tso's chicken faithfully speaks to their lack of skills.

While on a business trip, we only had one hour for lunch. The service at this restaurant was excellent, the food was great and the prices were reasonable. While we only had the hour, the services was so great we did not have to rush. I would highly recommend this place.

Took my family here during a short stay in Midtown. Found this place through this web site. The reviews were accurate, this place was terrific. Best Chinese food I have had in quite some time and the best Dim Sum I have had in years. And it was very inexpensive as well!

5 bucks for 4 generous steamed-and-stuffed-to-the-brim buns. What a deal! I ordered this as take-out on one of the coldest days of the year and when I got back to my desk it was still piping hot - a lovely treat! The buns are the perfect moist, not dry, stuffed with flavorful pork and delectable veggies. I only had to wait maybe 7 minutes tops for my order - even as busy as they were, they were getting people's orders processed and delivered with lightning speed. Definitely gets two thumbs up from me!

I walked in during the peak of rush hour and ordered takeout, got in it less than 10 minutes. Beef & broccoli was excellent, and great value- total inc. tax was 6.25 for entree, rice and egg roll. Believe me, this is a bargain when you're used to paying $10 for a mediocre lunch anywhere else in Manhattan. Fresh ingredients, great service, good value- want more could you want? Highly recommend!

I ordered delivery from John's Shanghai and it was great. It took less than 15 minutes to get my order. It arrived hot and delicious. The ingredients were fresh and it was prepared excellently.

Always a pleasure to order food from John's Shanghai. They take 25 minutes tops, the food is always hot, and it's not heavy, greasy Chinese food. The chicken is always white meat, wonton soup has just the right amount of soy sauce in it, egg rolls are filled to the brim with pork, etc. You really can't go wrong with any dish. NO ambience if you go to eat there, but food is still excellent at the restaurant. Only dish I'd stay away from are the Scallion Pancakes - they're a little too greasy and flaky (need more scallion and dough!)
