Great quality and value for money spent
We were surprised to find such an excellent Chinese reastaurant not in China Town but very near our hotel near Times Square. We felt we ate not in a place for tourists but where regular clients and Chinese people eat. We plan to go back next time we are in New York and recommend the restaurant to our friends. Great quality, large portions, and value for money spent. Congratulations to the owners and staff.

Not great
Had a delivery of shrimp dumplings and lunch special shrimp with vegetables. Not that great, will not order again.

disappointing
my inlaws were in town and i was hoping to treat them to a nice restaurant experience in times square. i completely regret going to this restaurant. the food was awful and the service was rude. i also didn't like that they had already added the gratuity onto our bill. we paid the 18% tip but as we were walking out, we couldn't help but regret it. the service there deserves no tip at all, honestly.

Yummy!!
Got soup dumplings to enjoy on the plaza nearby prior to the theater-- I have one complaint only: they gave me one napkin, which seemed kind of stingy. But the dumplings were yummy!

Awesome Chinese Food
This is the best delivered Chinese food delivering to midtown east side/sutton place. We order in Chinese food at least once/week. Discovered this on seamless web and I AM THRILLED. No local place holds a candle to John's Shanghai. The specialities are truly special. The bake in their juices dumplings, the pork shoulder, and the duck are awesome. Classic dishes like spareribs, lo mein, etc. are so good that when I went back to our old standby) I was disappointed. Prices are very fair and delivery time considering location vis-a-vis my apartment is very fast.

very happy with john's
I usually do not review restaurants, but I am very pleased with this place. Delivery was so quick I thought it might have been the wrong order, but it was in fact correct. I am picky with chinese food and I loved the chicken and broccoli. Great food, especially for Times Square!

Still waiting for my food
I ordered delivery at 6:10 pm, and it is currently 7:56 pm. One hour and forty six minutes. I called twice, and the person answering the phone just keeps telling me that the delivery person is "on his way". This is clearly a lie since she told me that an hour ago. Do not order delivery from this place. I still do not have my food.
