First advice: GO EARLY! Great calamari, pizza, pizza rolls! Great sandwiches. Skip the salads and the pasta as both are mediocre to bad. I love the old church atmosphere! Great Calamari!

John's Pizzeria: just go for the calamari. The calamari is the best I've ever tasted!! If you must have a meal, get pizza or the calzone. Please spare yourself & don't order the pasta - I tried 3 different kinds and all of them were bland and a waste of money. Service is well-known to be horrible here. Even today I was in a table of 4 & I waited over 15 minutes after everyone else got their orders. I had to cancel the order because it was getting ridiculous. No one apologized or tried to expain, nor did they refill my drink. Then they bring out the dish that I cancelled, 15 minutes after I cancelled it. Does this mean that if I didn't cancel it, I would have gotten my dish 30 minutes after everyone got theirs?

Pre theater value, yes, but not much more, long crowded wait, unattentive bar staff, less enthusiastic wait staff, we asked for garlic salt, told it was not available, only grated cheese as a condiment? We ordered the grilled veggies, they arrived ice cold, without explanation, and without the promised fresh mozzarella! The pizza was fine, but really small, skimpy with the toppings too, not worth the you should be grateful just to be here attitude that was the theme. No slices no service no extras no anything, except a decent pizza, not worth it.

The first time I ate here I had a pasta dish. I don't remember exactly what it was; I think I blocked it out because it was so bad. The second time, on the other hand, I had pizza, and was pleasantly surprised, considering my first traumatic experience. The moral of the story is: Order the pizza.

Excellent pizza and a ton of atmosphere. Overall rating let down by a grumpy waiter (it cost him his tip) but that could happen anywhere and I would still eat here again.

This is the best pizza in midtown. Just as good as original Bleeker St. location. Atmosphere is unique as it is located in old Church. Very good for lunch, and great value for pre-theater.

Johns' "No Slices" Pizzaria is my favorite place to eat when I go to a Broadway show! The place has always been clean, and food very, very good! It's right in the center of the theater district too, so no matter what show you go to, it's a short walk to Johns. I've probably been there about 15 times in the past 2 years. Going again in November!
