Great food for the money. Bruschetta pizza highly recommended. Calamari was decent. Pastas great as well, only need a larger variety of sauces for pastas only marinara and bolognese. House red wine, montepulciano was very palletable for $11 a half carafe. Wasn't too busy. Host that seated us was a prick but our waiter was exceptional.

The service may not be the absolute best but the good is outstanding and is well worth your money. The prices are relatively resaonble.

This branch of John's used to be a gospel church and there is still stained glass windows and the most gorgeous ceiling. Oh yeah and great pizza! We didn't bother with anything else so can't tell you how the pastas or salads are. Ordered the Margherita with basil and pepperoni. We sat right next to one of the ovens which made this "foodie" very happy indeed - absolutely mesmerizing watching the guys make all those pies so quickly! Great pizza, fantastic atmosphere, waiter was nice enough, but didn't check back on us at all (minor flaw in my book for a pizza joint).

Maybe not the best place to take a date out the first time (its in a huge church), but she'll enjoy it anyway for the experience and for the food. Food is filling (pasta's are the Ravoilis) and the wine washes it down well. Service is fine and prompt. Great value for the food.

Went here for a business dinner with several international associates and John's provided a great atmosphere. We ordered various salads, garlic bread and brushetta for appetizers. All were good, except I wouldnt get a Caesars salad again. I shared a pizza, and some others had pastas which they thought were good. Pizza was good, almost as good as the original John's on Bleeker. Desserts were just ok. Overall a nice experience and I would go here again, especially with out-of-towners or for lunch. Service was severely lacking at our table and I could also see that several tables around were frustrated also.

Decided to stop in here after reading a Frommer's review. Ordered pizza one afternoon, and it was wonderful! The service was pretty good, and the manager made sure everything was good. Enjoyed it so much, decided to return again, and the food and service was still good. Tried a pasta dish instead of pizza, and it was just as good. The restaurant is much larger than the typical Times Square area restaurant, so you don't feel like your table is in someone else's lap. Definately will return.

We like this place. The food is decent and not overpriced. The atmosphere is good although we were seated close to the service area - so I didn't like that and didn't want to complain while my husband enjoyed watching the pizza being made. It was a slow night but we have been there when it was jammed. Would return next trip to the city.
