The food is less than mediocre and the prices are much too high. It's a nice room and garden, reminiscent of the time they still served good pies are reasonable prices. Lower the rating please. The help does not know you are there.

I have lived across the street from John's for over 10 years and have eaten there almost once a week. This past year I've been living in Florida and just came back up for a visit. First stop John's! What a mistake, I was so excited for our old favorite place, I had been hyping it up to myself for months while living down south. We ordered our usual, house salad, penne ala vodka and a side of meatballs and sausage. The romaine leaves in the salad were brown, the white mushrooms were soggy and black and the once delicious, zesty dressing was pungent and watery. There were tv's and two different radios blasting away at the same time. Went back to give it another shot last night with some friends. Same deal with the salad. I'm shocked they let it leave the kitchen so wilted and unappetizing. This time we had the pizza. It wasn't bad but wasn't great, and an eggplant panini again not bad but not great. It was oddly served on toasted white bread slices. Oh well, time to move on...

I have just tried johns restaurant for my first time, I ordered the chicken Parm dinner. The chicken was dry and low grade. It looked and taste like it came from the frozen food section in the grocery store. In addition the marinara sauce was poor tasting and comparable to jar marinara sauce with a mussy side of pasta. This was my first and last time ever eating there. A waste of $22.00 dollars.

John's has been the best for the 25 years I have lived in this city and the expansion has only given more people the opportunity to taste John's. I'm glad they deliver and the food is wonderful with prompt and courteous service. I love John's and so do all of my out of town guests!!

We moved to the neighborhood about a year ago from the LES/EV... needless to say the food up here is disappointing and is laughably overpriced, so we've been dealing with the fact that its basically Turkish, Chinese, Pizza, or bad Sushi. We've never been there so I can't account for the restaurant, but the pizza is great for the area (thin crust, good balance). It would be good more generally. Basically it's a dolop on top kind of pie... premade with cheese, then stuffs added on. In terms of delivery, we order from John's once a week, and are literally stunned by the speed. We're on 71st, they're on 66th 2 blocks over, it gets here in, I kid you not, 20-25 minutes every time. Anyway, if you live in the area this is a great, reliable, decently priced place. Is it a top 5 pizza place for NYC? No, of course not, but for $18 on a sunday I just need a reliable, tasty pie, and this place delivers that every time. It's worth it.

A few weeks after eating in a disappointing famous Brooklyn pizzeria, we tried John's and it was terrific. Great crust, sauce, and we asked for fresh mozzarella only, which is the only way to go. Much better than the pizzerias always in the news and on the tourist circuit.

Sorry - but someone needs to write it. As a long time resident of NYC (over 20 years) I have to say how utterly absurd it is to claim this is our city's best pizza. Do yourself a favor, keep looking and ignore the just plain silly review that proudly claims this is the best NYC has to offer. It isn't - not even freakin' close.
