    Overpriced

The food sucked and it was way overpriced! The atomosphere was good and the service was good but the food stunk and it was overpriced. 16 bucks for one crab cake!

Group Prix-Fixe a Complete Rip Off

They require a prix-fixe menu for large groups. Complete scam. They served 6 or 8 entree dishes for a group of 16 people, and only provided a few more when we complained. They didn't provide chips and dip, which was thought to be included - how cheap - we spent $1200 and they can't throw in some chips? If we had been allowed to order al-la-carte, the amount of food would have cost much less than they charged us.

    Fun

Great atmosphere - very lively and loud. The food was pretty good too - from guacamole appetizer to brisket and bbq ribs, coleslaw and biscuits -- all were tasty. I will definitely go back. A great place for drinks or a large group.

great place but a bit overprice

i went there last night for one of my girlfriend's birthday and had a wonderful time. our waiter was very pleasant and extremely nice. we enjoyed his company very much. the atmosphere was a PLUS!! that is the best part about johhny utahs. although the food is a bit overpriced along with the drinks, it was worth it if all you want to do is have fun. at first, the resturant is in the basement and you must walk downstairs. once downstairs, the first thing you see is the mechanical bull. the atmosphere is top rated. the food was very good itself! the drinks were even better. overall, i had a fantastic time at johnnys. this is a great place for large groups of just for the bar. great place to meet people too. i recommend this for 20+. this place is not for kids.

    Cheesey but good!

If you are in the mood for wings and ribs washed down with cold beer than this is the place for you! Pricey but it is a "charge card" crowd. A plus is watching drunk wall street/advertising exec. type tools ride the bull!

    Skip The Food

When I walked into the restaurant last night, I was impressed with the look and serenity of Johnny Utah's. Our party ordered drinks, appetizers and dinner. I ordered the cheeseburger medium rare and received a well done tasteless burger. The appetizer was certainly a bit expensive for some dipping sauces and chips. The mechanical bull was fun to watch but the bathroom expereince was yet to be desired. The bathrooms are co-ed - Imagine walking into a very dark stall with one candle on the floor and having the opposite sex open the stall door which did not lock. My oh my - no more co-ed bathrooms for me. All in all, a fun place but beware of the outhouses.

    Tom Sellick meets Bill Gates

When you walk into this place, you think, "Wow, this isn't the Applebees (plus a bull) that I expected." It actually looks great. And as much as I hate the idea of "urban cowboy", whoever designed the restaurant pulled it off pretty well. Think Tom Sellick in expensive black boots. Then you see all the urban cowboys: half-drunk, 34 year-old stock analysts in khaki pants, purple-striped shirts, and white socks. They all, of course, want to ride the bull, which is a big black furry number surrounded by a sort of air-mattress and a black wrought-iron fence with candles on it. Their being terrible bull riders wouldn't be so sad if the guy operating the bull didn't just give them a few spins, then, out of nowhere, whip the thing around so hard that Spiderman himself wouldn't be able to hold on. Under the loud 80's rock playing on the stereo, I actually overheard the bull operator comment to a co-worker how "incredibly boring" the whole spectacle was. But it's not all bad, and you can have fun if you go with friends. The food's so-so, with prices ranging from $15-30 (mostly in the $22 range) for entrees, $6 for a beer, $8 for a glass of wine, $10-15 for a cocktail. The unisex bathroom has an attendant, which is nice, and extreeeeeemly dark stalls, which aren't. Hmm. To recommend or not? Okay: Go to this place when you have out-of-town friends staying at your place who want to take you to dinner at a unique, expensive NYC restaurant. The end.
