After reading several reviews I decided to try Joe G's after an off Broadway show the other day. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the service was excellent. It is true that the menu prices are higher than the website; I had the mediterranean salmon which was ont the $21.95 dinner and well worth it for 3 courses. My friend had the chicken francese, ordered a la carte and he loved it. The restaurant does have, what I would call "an old world feel", which lends itself to a certain comfort level. After dinner we went to the bar to have a drink, again, a very warm feeling there. I intend to visit Joe G's again very soon.

Stopped in Joe G the other night for dinner. I had looked on their Web site menu and the prices were very reasonable. BTW, these are the same prices listed on Menu Pages. When we were given the menu at the restaurant the prices were on average 35-40% higher than the Web site prices. They said those were the take-out prices only (I looked again and it does say that in small print at the very bottom of the online menu). Who would every notice that. Outrageous! We ordered a fish and a veal dish which were very average. Even the canoli was not very good. Their food quality and atmosphere (very old and dated) certainly doesn't warrant such high prices.

Cold and rainy so we ducked in, down th steps, wondering what we'd find. Pleasant greeting in nice bar/restaurant. Service superb, ambinace great in an intimate setting. Turns out Wed. evening has pleasant low keyed jazz influenced guitar and female vocals. Food excellent and portions generous. Wine reasonable. Dinner for two w/ wine and generous tipping under $100. Five star for me.

This place is bad. Nothing special, and way more expensive than it should be. Also, their take out menu shows way more food that the sit down menu. Oh, and the sit down menu is way more expensive. It's almost always empty inside, with a crummy wait staff this place just feels like it's not worth it. The only people who eat here and like it must be from out of town or have no concept of what a decent italian meal should be.

I took my girlfriend there for our four year anniversary, and it was just as great as the first time we went (3 years ago). The service was excellent, anyone who complains about that must have gone to the wrong restaurant. The food was also excellent, well portioned, but I wish they gave more garlic knots because they were so delicious. Oh and their tiramisu and cheesecake are delicious as well! Try them.

For years, my husband and I have traveled from Connecticut to New York just to eat at Joe G’s, ever since it was next to the Ed Sullivan theater. We have never had less than the best of meals there; they make us whatever we ask for if it’s not on the menu; and the staff has treated us better than any where else. We have always, and will continue to always, recommend Joe G’s to our friends and family. Thank you, Joe G. and staff!!
