Pleasant Surprise
Cold and rainy so we ducked in, down th steps, wondering what we'd find. Pleasant greeting in nice bar/restaurant. Service superb, ambinace great in an intimate setting. Turns out Wed. evening has pleasant low keyed jazz influenced guitar and female vocals. Food excellent and portions generous. Wine reasonable. Dinner for two w/ wine and generous tipping under $100. Five star for me.

This place is bad. Nothing special, and way more expensive than it should be. Also, their take out menu shows way more food that the sit down menu. Oh, and the sit down menu is way more expensive. It's almost always empty inside, with a crummy wait staff this place just feels like it's not worth it. The only people who eat here and like it must be from out of town or have no concept of what a decent italian meal should be.

Great Service, Great Food, Stop Complaining.
I took my girlfriend there for our four year anniversary, and it was just as great as the first time we went (3 years ago). The service was excellent, anyone who complains about that must have gone to the wrong restaurant. The food was also excellent, well portioned, but I wish they gave more garlic knots because they were so delicious. Oh and their tiramisu and cheesecake are delicious as well! Try them.

Thank You, Joe G!
For years, my husband and I have traveled from Connecticut to New York just to eat at Joe G’s, ever since it was next to the Ed Sullivan theater. We have never had less than the best of meals there; they make us whatever we ask for if it’s not on the menu; and the staff has treated us better than any where else. We have always, and will continue to always, recommend Joe G’s to our friends and family. Thank you, Joe G. and staff!!

Best Meatball Hero in NY!
Joe's has been a neighborhood staple since I moved up here in 1984. Back then Joe G's was right next door to the Ed Sullivan Theater (Late Show w/ Letterman) and, among other things, sold amazing pizza by the slice. It is still amazing pizza, unfortunately no longer available by the slice since Joe moved up to West 56th Street. But as our good fortune would have it, Joe G's meatball parm. hero is still -- by far -- the very best I've ever tasted... and I've tried many. It's an excellent option especially for those staying in a nearby hotel and want to order great "affordable" Italian food in Midtown Manhattan. The restaurant is located downstairs in the Da Vinci Hotel and has a nice neighborhood pub kind of vibe. A little crowded for my taste as a romantic spot to dine but Joe G's has warm ambiance and the staff makes a notable effort to satisfy patrons.

Try somewhere else - really average food.
Fine atmosphere and service, but food was REALLY average - as most of the entrees/pastas hover above $20, you are better off adding a couple of bucks and trying others on the same block, particularly if going for a pre-show meal. Avoid the antipasto, as it ends up being quite expensive and not impressive. Also, take note that other reviewers refer to the restaurant as inexpensive, which it definitely is not (by the time you get to the end of the meal). Trust me on that one...

Why, why, why...
I really like Joe G's pizza. HOWEVER, I just ordered from there and for some reason they "don't deliver garlic knots." WHY?! It makes no sense. You can only get garlic knots if you go there. I don't think Krissy will be full without them. She so hungry. I will ask you again Joe G: WHY?! Krissy is still hungry for garlic knots.
