I'm a happy camper when…
there's a big juicy cheeseburger, fries, and pitcher of red wine on my table at Joe Allen. SO good! And, the waitstaff has ALWAYS been friendly to me. Don't think I could ever grow tired of Joe Allen!

Great Choice
Went to Joe Allen after seeing a play. My wife and I both had the Marinated Chicken dinner and it was fantastic. Overall it was an excellent dinner and my wife did spot an actor having dinner at another table.

room for improvement
service and ambiance good. food mediocre. meatloaf, way too much garlic and dry. chicken wings, much too spicey and laced with vinegar - yuch !! seafood dish, mediocre and overpriced.

Very Pleased
After theater at 10:40 PM on a Saturday night went to Joe Allen and got the last available table. The place was packed! Wife had a salad (loved it) and I had the sauteed liver. Very good. Large glass of wine for each of us, very attentive service and the tab was quite reasonable. I don't know what anyone else is complaining about, we plan on going back for sure.

Post-show bite...
After seeing a show, my girlfriend and I decided to head over to Joe Allen to grab some drinks and food. We were seated immediately and were served our drinks promptly. The major hiccup came when I was served the pork chop instead of the pulled pork sandwich that I had ordered. The waitress acknowledged that it was their mistake, and was friendly about it, though not apologetic. My sandwich came out in a few minutes and it was quite good. My girlfriend had the Heart of Palm salad and that was good too. We agreed that it was hard to justify spending the money we spent because the meal was good but not that good. Also, they have a space on their credit card receipt to tip the maitre d' which to me is a bit old school. It reminded me of the curb your enthusiasm episode, although I didn't go head to head with the guy like Larry did. All in all, a good experience but hard to justify the price.

Fall from grace for sure
I've lived in Hells Kitchen for just over ten years and have frequented Joe Allen for many of those years. Over the past few years, management, food quality and prices have all changed for the worse. My last (and final) visit offered rude service and a seemingly drunk staffer(!) who didn't seem to care about customers. It seems they are resting on their laurels, knowing people will come for celebrity sightings. It's too bad. It was great in its day, but I just can't recommend it anymore!

My favorite
I go to Joe Allen about 30 times a year. I find it to be great food and brisk service. I am a huge theatre fan and go before or after. I always get seated by the "uber" friendly door staff who remembers me which is the key to success. One will go where one is taken care of and they certainly take good care of me. Always.
