Food is not bad but establishment has very poor service. They would also change they're delivery policy every other week. Sometimes they can deliver with a 2 mile radius, sometimes they can't. Owners are very unproffesional and rude when answering the phone!

Joa is amazing. As reviewers have stated, the menu is simple – 4 choices of meats which you get w/ rice & veggies. Delicious - it's hard to pick my fave – I would have to say everything but the ribs just because I haven’t tried ’em yet (that’s next on the list)! Savory, flavorful, nicely cooked large portions. I do agree w/ the earlier reviewer wanting more cruciferous veggies but also noting that that is a tiny thing compared to what you DO get here – an excellent, satisfying, non-greasy, scrumptious, inexpensive meal! One time our bus drove by here & the place was shuttered – we just about had a heart attack thinking they closed down, but no worries, it was open the next time. Since my husband usually picks up takeout from here, I’ve never seen the one dude behind the counter who does everything by himself, but judging from my hubby’s & others’ accounts, he is the stuff of legends & I APPLAUD him – thank you, Joa-guy! Joa is an incredible addition to Washington Hts so please check it out if you haven't already.

We decided to give Joa a try after seeing the reviews here. The bulgogi is great! The only complaint I have is that the serving of meat is a bit small. It was a disproportional to the amount of rice in the container. For $7.50, I think the serving of meat should be a bit bigger. Also tried the teriyaki chicken and it was forgettable so go for the bulgogi instead.

Fantastic korean BBQ place!! It's impossible to recommend a certain dish b/c they're ALL delicious. Extremely fast service, clean place, friendly stuff and seriously a bargain.

It's definitely a little hole in the wall, but it's clean, fresh, made to order, healthy (A RARE OPTION, which is shocking given the proximity of the number 4 hospital in the nation) and delicious. I wish there were an option for N/A for atmosphere. One does not go to this place for ambiance. You pick one of four meats (shredded beef, spicy pork, short ribs, chicken teriyaki), decide if you want the regular or large meat portion, add optional miso soup or kimchi for a buck, and add some Sriracha if you want. That's it. Each dish comes with yummy soft steamed rice and steamed mixed veggies. I agree with the other reviewer that the veggies need more cruciferous vegetables, but that's a minor quibble. All said, it's nice to some SOMETHING in this area other than Caribbean food, bad takeout chinese and overpriced italian. Please, washington heights, patronize Joa. I want them to succeed because they're one of the few good options for lunch in the area...

Love getting food from here. Good thing I live close, so I can take it home to eat. The owner really cares about you liking what you get. Support this place, we need more places with food and service this good in Washington Heights!

Great! I've tried everything on the menu and it is all good. The owner is a friendly, hard-working guy who wants you to enjoy his food. There is minimal seating at a counter along the front window, but this is a takeout joint. Nice decor and very clean though. I am drooling just thinking about this place. I think I'll have it for dinner again tomorrow.
